We are taking our three year old son for the first time and wanted to know suggestions of what to do, Where to see characators, and what height are the ride minimums? Sorry lots of questions but just want to do my homework before we get there!::MickeyMo

First, welcome to the Dis. You will find all the information you need plus much more here!

We have taken our kids since they were babies, and 3 is a really nice age to go. They believe in the characters and are so in awe of the whole experience. Some advise is to take an afternoon rest time at your hotel (staying on site helps with this). Don't try to see it all in the first trip, pick a few things that look fun and let the rest go until the next trip. Go get a good guidebook. Passporter, Unofficial Guide and WDW with Kids are all good. You can find them at the library. Finially keep asking questions here, you will get lots of great ideas. The planning is half the fun!:teeth:

Hi fryguy! Welcome!

You'll find lots of info on these boards (I know I have).

Additionally, I suggest getting one of the guidebooks that are out there (Birnbaum's, Unofficial Guide to WDW, Passporter, etc. ) Take some time to look at each one to determine which best fits your travel planning style.

My best advice to give once you arrive(based on our last trip with 2 DS's ages 3 & 1) is take your time! Let your little one enjoy what can be a pretty overwhelming experience at their own pace.

Happy planning!:wave2:

Welcome, Fryguy!

You are going to have such a wonderful trip with your 3-year-old. We went with our 3-year-old and 1-year-old in July and despite the crowds, heat, and rain we had the best vacation of our lives. DS3 still talks about the trip EVERY single day!

I agree that you should go buy a guidebook or two, and then spend lots of time on these boards. The "WDW for Families" board below this one will be especially helpful if you have questions about strollers, rest times, etc.

Our 3-year-old was 42" at the time of our trip and went on (and loved!) nearly every ride that he was tall enough for. He tends to be hesitant so we were surprised that Splash Mountain and Star Tours were among his very favorite rides! He also especially enjoyed It's a Small World, Buzz, all transportation (monorails, boats, buses), Dumbo, Spaceship Earth (not my favorite, but he would have gone on it 10 times if we'd let him!), and many more. Meeting Mickey many times during the week was another special highlight. We skipped most of the parades and shows because our 1-year-old got too antsy, but I imagine your 3-year-old will really go for some of the great shows there.

Have fun!

Our son went a year ago when he was 3. He is still talking about Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin. I cannot tell you how much he loves that ride. He actually loved everything he did at WDW. I felt badly for him though, he just cried when he wasn't tall enough to ride the Mountain rides. The CM at each ride gave him the "future riders" certificate. So, next time we go (he will be tall enough then) we'll bring the certificate back and he'll go straight to the front of the line. He keeps telling us, "I wide spwash mountain next time." He cannot wait to go back. Both of our boys love Epcot as well. We do the free masks at the Kidcot stations in WS. MGM is okay to them. I'm sure they'll like it more when they can ride ToT. AK is a favorite too. Just take in all of the suggestions here and feel free to ask any questions!
