Taking the train to avoid parade taping?

Hi all.

We're leaving for WDW Friday night and spending Saturday at the MK. Since that's the day the parade is taping, I know Main Street will be a zoo.

We're planning to be at the park at rope drop. Can we board the train and ride to Toontown, get off there and walk to Tomorrowland? I know Toontown won't be open yet. Does the train still stop there? (This is our first trip with a child -- I've never even set foot in Toontown.)

If we can do that and walk to Tomorrowland, about how long do you estimate it will take us from the time we board the train on Main Street to when we get to the Tomorrowland Indy Speedway (our first ride)?

Thanks in advance!

Honestly, even with the parade taping you would get there faster if you walked. Now I personally would take the train just to not have to deal with the hassel...

Last year they did not do the morning charater welcome show on parade filming day, so the first train would be there right at park opening. But if they do the show the first train has to wait for entertainment to clear the station as well as the "show train" (which does not load guests because the passenger coaches have been modified for the show). Once the train is there it will sit for until about 9:03 and then head out to Frontierland and sit for about 3 minutes before going on to Toon Town. When you get to Toon Town it will stop and you can get off, but you will not be able to go through Toon Town, so you will have to walk the pathway along the train tracks up to Space Mountain and around the perimeter of the speedway.

If you walk you can cut through all the stored on the right side of Main Street, they are all connected and you will not be stuck in the parade filming. Once you get to the end make a right and go through the Tomorrowland Terrace (where the "never open" Noodle Station is) and it will bring you out in Tomorrowland having avoided Main Street all together. The train will take you about 20 minutes to get to your destination, if you walk Main Street it will probably take you 10 minutes or less.

Of course as I said, I would probably take the train anyway, it's a nice ride and you won't have to deal with the potential of crowds, but... it would still be quicker to walk!

Have fun on your trip :sunny:
