Taking the laptop and worried about theft

We always take our laptop to WDW and everywhere else. We've always just left it in the suitcase or somewhere else out of sight but not locked up, and we've never had a problem. I agree that you're more likely to have a problem with people passing by than with housekeeping.

I also lock my laptop in a suitcase each day. I'm not worried too much about it being stolen, but I'd rather lock it up for extra security than risk having it taken.

Some of us have to take care of business even when we are on vacation. Others need to d/l photo's from a digital camera onto the hard drive.

Regretfully locking it with the front desk isn't an option for me...at WDW it could take half an hour to get it back with the lines. And when I need it for work, I need it NOW...otherwise some of the execs will do the perp walk--I handle SEC related issues.

We are away for extended periods of time, and definitely "need" our laptop for various reasons. Also, as Anne pointed out, it's very convenient for photos, etc.

I do have a small unit (sony) which will fit in the in-room safe, but I usually just place this in a special locked bag. The Vaio is preferred for better viewing and "ease of use" (therefore it remains out/accessible).

I will check-out the BEST BUY Cable lock mentioned in this thread. At least it would possibly make it more difficult for a thief to procure. What a world....
