Taking the first day slow?

We're planning on MK on a Wednesday and a Friday (October 6 & 8th). Should we spend our first day very slow with some character meals, etc. or dive right into our vacation like crazy? We are planning on MNSSHP on the 8th. Does that make a difference how we tackle Wednesday?

Just a thought, but I would use the first day being in the middle of the week to my advantage and due as many "must-see" things that day at Mk as I could, before the weekend crowd comes in. Then maybe take it easier on friday, and save your energy for the MNSSHP. I wish I were going to MNSSHP again this year!

I think I like Snyderla's advice. You don't have to go too crazy, but squeeze in a few heavy traffic MK attractions---whatever feels good-- on the first day. It couldn't hurt, and might help later in the week:earsboy:

If you do a 22 hour drive to WDW like we do, take the first day really slowly. I tried a more 'commando' approach with my kids last trip, and boy did I regret that! They were actually cranky, whiny, and not having a lot of fun at WDW! :earseek: So this trip, we're only doing a half day our first full day there (we might go to EPCOT our first night, but maybe not), then we'll pick up the pace!

I wanted to ask how are you traveling as well?? Also, if the Wed your first full day or your arrival day? Those would both factor into my decision.

If it's your 1st full day and you have a relatively easy travel to get there--- then I'd go all out for that 1st day. It only takes us alittle over 2hrs flight to get there. We never go to the parks on our arrival day. So, we always go the 1st full day-- because we are geared up and ready for it. However, we also never do more than 2 park days in a row-- we always skip every 3rd day, we find it keeps us more relaxed and we enjoy things better.

We actually arrive on Tuesday afternoon (flying from Halifax, NS). I thought we would just spend that day relaxing by the pool, etc. and then get hot and heavy the following day. My husband is more of a sit back and see it all type of guy where I'm more of a do all and see all that you can! DS is 4 and DM is 64 so I have to be careful with that kind of approach! I was just thinking that if we get our "must dos" done on Wednesday then on Friday we can do our "like to to dos"done. Also because of MNSSHP on Friday night, I don't want to arrive at the park super early or anything.
