Has anyone ever taken a taxi to DTD from Boardwalk? Do they charge per person? Per cab? And, how many can fit?

We currently have a car reserved for a few days so we can go to DTD, change to BLT, and then drive to AK.

This morning, I wondered if it would just be cheaper to do taxis instead. Just not sure how it would work.

It's per cab, not per person. I don't know the price for that - we paid $15 ish for MK to Beach Club (I think that included the tip), just for a frame of reference. I'd say it will be under $20 definitely.

You can fit 3 in the back and one in the front with the driver, in my experience.

If you're a small group, I would say take cabs. We do it all the time for dining at signatures, and for DTD. We stayed at the Boardwalk and went to see La Nouba. When it was over the swarm of people all went towards the busses, we hopped in the cab line that's right there, paid $12 and were "home" in 10-15 mins. WELL worth it. Going *to* DTD might be a little more because the traffic is heavier in the early evening. When we go from resort to resort for dinner, it always costs more going to then it does coming back.
I think the most we've ever paid was about $23 (after tip) from GF to AKL for Jiko.

...Additionally, to get a cab, just go to the valet/bell desk, and they'll call one for you. Usually the cabs are there waiting to pick people up, but if not, it's usually a 5-10 minute wait at most.

Also, if your party is more than 3 or 4 - never fear! There are the taxi vans as well, no extra charge for a van over a car. As previously said they are usually waiting in the parking lots and the valet attendants will hail one for you. I've used them many times hand hae never waited more than a minute of two.

Thanks everyone! We have 7 people the first day and 9 the next. We won't actually fit when our other two guests arrive so that is why I am wondering now if we should just pay the money to do the taxi and not stress about renting the minivan.

It is costing a little over $200 for the 3 days but as I said, the plan is to use it only for three things.

I didn't know about the taxi vans and those sound like they might be a good idea and work.

Even if it is $20 each way, that would still make it cheaper. I will have to talk to my group!!!

Not sure why you want to take a taxi to get from BW to DTD. Were you aware that there are free Disney busses that will take you?

DTD buses are notoriously unreliable an the BWV to DTD route is one of the worst on property (IMO.) That bus look includes, at a minimum:

BoardWalk
Dolphin
Swan
DTD Marketplace
DTD Pleasure Island
Typhoon Lagoon

I'd say $20 for a cab is worth the money to avoid.

For car rental, you should look at price for entire time you are there and compare and see if it is much different. Also check each rental car agency. Finally, starting about a week before you go, go to the rental sites and start checking on last minute specials for Orlando airport; you can somethimes get excellent deals at that time. Example: for Easter time this year, I checked the sites 6 days before we were to arrive. Through National's last miunte specials we were able to get a full-size SUV for $210 for a week (and that included all the taxes and fees); we cancelled an earlier reservation for which the charge was more than three times that.

Taking Disney buses works, if you're willing to allocate the time it can take, for dinner reservations--but not for changing resorts. Luggage is not allowed on Disney buses. Although you could have Disney/Bell Services transfer your luggage, and then the people can take the Disney buses (you can take a back-pack or "big bag"--but no roller-bag or obvious suitcases--on the bus w/you)...

Most we've paid for a cab at the world was $24 from AKL to Poly, which are about as far from one another as anything at WDW. From BWV, you're much closer.

Yes, we are well aware of the buses and don't like them. I prefer to drive to the places I can't walk. Even if it doesn't save me much time, it feels as though it does as I am in control of things.

Thanks! I will keep my eyes out and check up until we leave in case we can get the price down a little.

I understand that entirely. :drive:

Just mentioned it because I couldn't tell from the first post if you were aware of this.
