Taking stills while taking video

What digital cameras out there will allow you to take stills while you are shooting video? I would prefer a simple point and shoot camera, but all recommendations are welcomed.

I know Panasonic's G3 and GX7 will take stills while taking video, not sure if other Panasonic micro 4:3 will but I would expect it. There is a very brief pause in the video when a still is taken, not very noticeable.

Some ideas....

• With a 1080 or 4k camera... you can pop a frame off with video editing software to create a still image.
• I also attach a GoPro camera to my DSLR.

You need to think your priorities. If your main interest is a still image and videos are just something on the side... that video footage will be super shaky.

If you are shooting video... you can't turn the camera on the side for portraits.

To keep some sanity, consider putting a video camera on a tripod or table tripod for still footage, while running around with your still camera.

Most camcorders these days can even do it. Plain fact is that picture quality is never as good if you take it while videoing at the same time. You may find your phone helpful. I know newer iPhones now have a small white "photo" button that appears when you start recording video!

The Panasonic micro 4:3 (and others) can take a full size photo while in video mode so it is the same image quality as any other still taken by the camera. There are two modes for taking stills within video, one takes a 1920 x 1080 jpg only while the other can take a full size raw still image.
Since I am a photographer more than a videographer I use setting two.

Sony point and shoots (like my HX30) used to have the option of taking stills during video...but it was a 16:9 picture and you only have that option during 60i video recording.
