Hey all....for any of you who have done the parks with young ones (1 and 4) which snacks did you find worked best to bring to the parks with you? My ds4 is a snacker/grazer and I know this will be important! We will deff do a lot of disney snacking, but I am worried about being in line or at a time when it is not convienent or no one else is hungry, kwim?

TIA,
Sarah

I buy the peanut butter crackers, or cheese crackers, gummy fruits, and always bring juice pouches.

I WAY overpacked the snacks this trip. My kids are constantly snacking at home, and I didn't want to hear about how hungry they were in line, so we brought a lot of food. I'll tell you what we brought. I packed the snack size ziplocs of goldfish and craisins mixed up, Disney teddy grahams in little baggies, granola bars, snack size portions of beef jerky from Costco, ritz fresh stacks (half size sleeves), true north nut cluster individual packs, and popcorn cakes. We didn't bring the refrigerated stuff into the parks, but at the hotel we had Danimals, apple slice packages, and juice boxes. We ate some of it, but brought most of it home actually. Now I'm stocked up on snacks at home though. :)

We always bring gummy fruit packs and granola bars just in case we need something fast they are easy to carry and store. Honestly, we eat snacks there like soft pretzels, popcorn, and cotton candy too...they always tempt and get us! LOL!

Oh I know! I am really excited to have the snacks at the park! The gummy fruit packs are a great idea...do you know if they get all soft and stuck together in warm weather?

Thanks,
Sarah

I also found that tic tacs worked in line for my DD4. It's not the healthiest but did keep her busy while waiting.

I don't remember having a problem with them sticking together. We're leaving tomorrow to go to DL for a few days and I'm bringing them again...I can let you know when I get back. I know it's going to be hot when we're there for sure!

I'd appreciate that, thanks!

How do you get them into the park, I thought Disney had a policy against bring food into the park. Very interested in knowing how get food into the park, especially the juice pouches.

Thanks.

They will let you in with snacks and drinks. We always take a backpack full of snacks (fruit snacks, goldfish, crackers, etc.), as well as lots of bottled water, bottled soda and Capri Suns. I think as long as you aren't trying bring in a giant cooler, they don't care.

As long as you don't have a stocked cooler or glass you are able to take in drinks and snacks. We always take our own water bottles and we take snacks too. We like dried fruit, granola bars, crackers, grapes. Things that travel well.

Yes, a backpack full of water and snacks is not a problem at all. Dh was in charge of it- we had our 5 water bottles in the main compartment, which we refilled throughout the day (thanks to the list I got of where I could do that from this board :) ), our snacks in the middle spot, and sunscreen and sanitizer in the front pocket. It worked out perfect. I carried my OE messenger bag the whole time with our money and camera. And no one stole our strollers, lol! I was paranoid about that. We had no problem finding them after exiting the rides either.

I take cheese sticks too. But we have to eat those in the am before it gets too warm. But DD can always use a protein boost and it gives her something besides carbs to munch on! I try to specifically buy Disney snacks for our trip. They have prepackaged Mickey Cheeses at Walmart. You can alos find cookies and crackers, too. Regular fruit roll ups can take time in line, especially the tatoo type. DD loves playing with them while she eats them in line.

For my DD2, we had cheese sticks, gogurt, gold fish, freeze dried apples, cereal bars, toddler mum mums and some gerber puffs. Suprisingly she didn't snack much at DL, although she is normally a huge snacker. I bought a soft cooler from Target by Thermos Raya I think the 24 or 18 can bag that fit under the stroller and loaded it with water and milk and the other cold things. Didn't have any problems at all with any of our things taking into the park. I kept it cold with blue ice and also had another set of blue ice back in the hotel freezer for the cooler at night after we came back for naps, clothes change, etc. and switched them out so we always had cold blue ice. worked great. I'd leave it under the stroller whenever we rode rides etc., but I had a stash in my bag for the lines, just in case :)

Good luck!! and have fun

we took (not necisarily all on the same day) gogurts, cheese sticks, protein bars (kids thought they were candy bars), granola bars, cut up apples, gold fish (they make all sorts of flavors now- we took cheese and pretzel mix with some chocolte fish thrown in), any type of dry cereal.

The key for us is giving them things they dont normally have like pretzel goldfish, protein bars, mickey shaped cheese in stead of basic sticks. I even ran out of gogurts about 45 days before our trip and kept "forgetting" to get them so the kids would be excited to have them again.

I like to take Lara Bars for my DD6 and DD3. They are dense and filling and my two DD can usually split one bar between them. They come in yummy flavors like cherry pie, ginger snap, peanut butter cookie, and apple pie. The apple pie (to give you an idea) contains unsweetened dry apples, walnuts, raisins, almonds, cinnamon, and dates. All the ingredients are chopped/diced and it really is like biting into a very firm piece of pie. Since they are so compact, we pack a whole bunch in a variety of flavors. That way I can offer up a "coconut cream pie" to my DD when she looks longingly at a ice cream cart and says, "I'm hungry." (This would be ten minutes after breakfast, mind you.) I buy them at Whole Foods, but CostCo carries a variety pack now and then.

I have loads of fruit in the room, but we usually buy some of the yummy fresh cut fruit from the park fruit stands instead (the diced melon is usually a favorite).

UPDATE: The gummy fruit packs don't stick together in the heat, they worked perfectly! We kept them in our backpack that attaches to our stroller. Also, we brought rice krispies treats they worked well too.

Hadn't thought of the rice krispie treats. Thanks for the tip and for checking on the gummies for me! How hot was it while you were there?

It was in the mid to upper 80's (felt hotter during midday). We had fun although we were hot and it was crowded.

My little ones (6 and 4) LOVE the fruit cups. Mostly the peaches, but they have eaten the pears as well. They can snack on those all day.
