Is it permissible to take snacks (crackers, cookies) in your checked luggage on International flights?

you may want to check restrictions on where you are going, but generally speaking I believe the answer is yes. i have taken snacks to France and last year the UK in my checked luggage and small ones in carry on with no problems. that included protein bars last year which i was told may not make it thru security. someone told me they had theirs taken on a flight home from canada once, they said they think it was the metal wrapping :confused3 but since they don't sell those bars in the US i think it was an ingredient.

Definitely check with your airline.

I have a friend who moved from the US over to a country on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean and loves to travel to all the countries she can. She tries to come "home" once a year to visit and always stuffs her checked suitcase with treats from other countries then stuffs it back full of US goodies to share with her friends back where she lives. She has not had any problems with this. I love trying candy and chocolates from all the countries she visits!

It depends on the import restrictions on the country you are going to. But for the most part, packaged food tends to be fine, fresh food isn't. But do check.

Check restrictions on where you are going, you may have to "claim" your food at customs. We haven't had a problem with packaged foods (no meat, dairy, fresh fruit etc.), but I am always prepared that we could be asked to show the food at customs or they could make us throw it away. Be sure to try local food wherever you arè going too!

Airline has nothing to do with it. What you need to check is local customs. And you can bring anything on the flight with you to eat during the flight (with in FAA regulations).

This has been my experience. I've traveled to South America and Europe, never had any problems with packaged foods. Fresh fruits and vegetables are a HUGE no-no and I imagine that meats and other types of agricultural products like eggs and plants are also forbidden.

I would check the customs page for whatever country you are traveling to and from, they might have specific prohibitions or quanitity limits.

Any food prepackaged like this is fine. As previously posted, you only run into problems with things like meat products or fresh items (fruits, vegetables, etc.).
