I saw a few posts about "breaker period rooms" and I wondered if rooms have been moved to Disney can DVC take them back if they are wanted. I have been trying to get a room at any resort for any type of room for December 6th and have not been able to get one. I know this is a busy time of year for DVC but you would think that maybe they would have one room, of any type, available at SSR. They are huge with a lot of rooms. Could the rooms have been given to Disney to fill since it was less than 60 days out?
If you called and asked could they possibly take them out of Disney inventory

Thanks:confused3

It seems to be a pretty rare occurrence that they return rooms from CRO to DVC, certainly not upon a member's request.

At 60 days when the rooms that are not booked with points are given to Disney Reservations, yes they can be returned.

However Member Services has to make the request and they have to contact the resort and it is up to the resort to approve or not. Did you mean Dec. 6?

I didn't even catch the date - I think pretty much all of WDW - DVC and CRO - is sold out the 1st week of December - I've seen other posts saying no availability for that week.

I am confused too! Are you looking for NOVEMBER 6th (stated above)? Did you mean December 6th

I would keep calling. There could be cancellations. At this point, waitlists no longer apply.

60 days before, any villas not reserved using DVC points are made available to DRC for cash reservations. Those rooms are also still available to DVC members based on availability.

However, for busy times like early December are not likely to have any availability from member inventory and therefore nothing available to get back from DRC. Villas reserved using DVC points from non-DVC options (like the Cruise and other non-DVC resorts like Poly, CR, YC, CBR and CBR) are not available to DVC members since those points have been committed for cash reservations.

At this point there is little likelyhood that there is any availability for either November 6 or December 6, 2010 at any DVC resorts - either from DVC inventory or from Breakage Inventory. If there are cancellations, it would be wise for you to request getting on the waitlist since you are now with 7 days for reservations for December 6 and earlier. November 6 will be out of the question. ;)

Good luck!

Yes the CM can check CRO inventory to see if someting can be brought back in. Unless it has changed with the new upgrade, it takes an extra step and I have found the MS puts you on hold since it takes a little time. I have found that asking specifically to check CRO inventory is a good idea.

Periodically, it has happened. I was the lucky recipient of such a "pull back" a few years ago-I needed just one night in the middle of a VWL reservation at Thanksgiving and MS had me hold while they placed a call to the resort about inventory. The resort approved and I was one happy DVC member!

I wouldn't expect this to happen on a routine basis. I was moving to BCV for that one night and I have a feeling that the laws of supply/demand were at work on this one (many more requests for the BCV night).

Keep calling daily and just maybe some pixiedust: will come your way :)

I think the difference is a) if the rooms are handed over to CRO because they weren't booked by members 60 days out or b) if they were handet to CRO to recoup costs from exchanges (DCL, Disney Collection, RCI etc) or c) if the rooms haven't been declared yet, they cannot be rented by points, but could be given to CRO for cash rentals.

For a), it should be possible to transfer the rooms back, but not for b) or c)

There is another situation, which is where a recent owner can get a guide to intervene and find rooms where none existed. Its generally believed these are pulled from developer inventory as a sales perk - but guides don't tend to intervene for long term members not in the process of buying points.

But for the time period you are talking about, its unlikely that what CRO holds is brokage inventory that can be pulled back. Early December is waitlist time, not turn rooms over to CRO time. It IS possible to catch a cancellation though - especially once the wait list is flushed.

Yesterday I changed a 4th of July reservation to one earlier in June. At first the CM didn't know if a studio at BCV was available for the week. She put me on hold for at least 2 minutes. In the end, I did get the week:banana:It will be the first time we spend a whole week in a studio, hope it works out for us! However, I wonder just why the CM was away so long and why she mentioned that "it happened."

Thank you for all your answers, I called today and the cast member in member services took the time ( like none of the others have) to call the resort and she was able to get me a room at BCV. I am so happy. I needed to have this day away more than I realized when I started my hunt for a room

:cool1:
