Taking relatives or friends with rented pts?

Has anyone rented pts for friends or relatives traveling at the same time? I don't necessarily mean treating them-they or I could pay. I guess what I mean to ask is:

We want to get a room for MIL at VB while we are there-we need all of our pts that we aren't using at VB for a fall vacation, we don't want to borrow. My DH said what about renting pts for her. It seems like a pretty good deal. Is it strange to be a DVC member and then rent pts on top of that? She insists on paying for the room and we could book her a cash ressie-possibly with a DVC discount, Birnbaum, etc. but that still wouldn't be as economical as her just renting pts.

Have any of you done that? Was it easy?

Any info would be appreciated-I posted over on the rent/trade board for the above pts in question but I wanted to here your experiences in case I actually get a reply over there.

We are DVC members and have rented points for the first time for friends of ours. It worked quite slick...I would highly recommend it. I was pretty nervous, but used the rent/trade board here and hooked up with a great DVC member looking to rent points.

Good luck

I smell an addon!

After renting points from another member last year for our long summer vacation we decided it only made sense to add on. If we can't use them (yeah right) we can always sell them.
Buying points from another member was extremely easy.

Good Luck!

I would see nothing wrong with renting points for your MIL. Before owning we rented points through the Rent/Trade Board & had a positive experience.

It will be less expensive than doing a cash ressie through WDW. I'm sure your MIL will be much more comfortable having her own accommodations & also feel better knowing she paid for it herself.

Have fun when you go. :bounce:
