I want to be able to take pictures of some of my pins, but the pictures never come out right! Either the color is off (what should be silver looks gold) or I get a huge flash effect off the pin. Any hints? I'm using an Olympus C2000 2.1 megapixel digital camera.

Thanks for he hints Dom!

I might try the neutral background thing as it might help. Close-ups are not a problem since I have "macro" mode on my camera. My particular problems have to do with light, I think. When I use ambient light with no flash I get color shifts and my silver pins look gold. When I use a flash, I get reflections on the pin. *sigh* I've tried to use an auxillary (non-photographic) light, but that just created shadows! I'm thinking that I might need some kind of auxillary flash. I think I have one from my non-digital days somewhere ...

Taking pictures of Pins is an art. I prefer to scan when possible. Out side would probably be your best bet. Go in the shade or take them on a bright but cloudy day. The only other thing that comes to mind is to try Halogen lighting. It is sopposed to be truer to natural light than anything else. Good luck.

My auxillary light was a table-top halogen. I thought the "brighter" light would work too. I'll give my scanner a try! I never thought of that.
