Do you ever get goofy looks for taking pictures of your food? lol... I just feel kinda silly doing it but I love all these reviews and I plan to take pictures of everything on this trip. I'm just waiting for a thread with people getting annoyed of all the flash photography going on in the restaurants :confused3 lol...

Frankly, I'm not concerned if people are looking at me during my meals. I'm too busy enjoying my family. Lots of people take pictures during meals even if they're not taking food pictures. In addition to pictures of food, we also take pictures of each other as well as the restaurant. I love digital cameras since you can take as many pictures as you'd like without having to worry about cost (though I am having to look at a large external hard drive now because they take up so much space so maybe there is a cost).

What surprises me is when people take flash photography in very dark restaurants. When we were at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre, I was trying my best to get good quality shots using my Point & Shoot camera without using a flash because I didn't want to disturb anybody else. They were coming out pretty nicely if I do say so myself. Then I saw flashes going off all over the restaurant at various times and had to ask myself why I was bothering. It's a family destination with people on vacation just enjoying myself. If it wasn't bothering anybody else and it wasn't bothering me when others did it, why was I worrying? At Coral Reef it was a bit more disturbing since the flash would reflect off the tank. I can't imagine that people's pictures of the tank actually turned out. I got some really nice shots of the tank without my flash. I did use my flash for food pictures and pictures of family at our table though.

I never get looks...well not that I know of anyways :rotfl2:

One time at Boma breakfast a gentleman commented on me taking pics of the buffet and I told him I scrapbook. Another time at Capt Grill dinner I took a picture of the dessert table and a family commented about it but they were not speaking directly to me.

I did the same thing at Sci-Fi! I know what you mean about having too many pictures... I bought an external hard drive a few months ago and almost have that filled up (500gb :scared1:)

I love your reviews btw! :worship: and your quote under your username, too funny! :rotfl2:

My Dh thought I was crazy I was doing it this weekend...until I pointed out all the other people doing it as well. Frankly, I don't care hwat people think of me taking pictures as long as I don't take pictures of them or use flash photography when prohibited it is really none of their business. ;)

Just a tip-- I imagine that it would be a lot less obvious that you are taking pictures of the food if you used the camera in your phone (rather than a real camera). You can just pretend that you're texting if you're self-conscious about it.

I enjoy looking at "Food Porn" at times, however I'm not taking pictures of what I eat, never have, it just doesn't occur to me, nor is it something that I would put in a photo album!

By the same token, I've been to Disney 50+ times, eaten at most every restaurant there, and I can't recall once seeing someone take pictures of their plates, so it's being done on the "sly".

To each his own!

I don't believe there is any restaurant at WDW that prohibits taking photographs, including flash photographs.

I've been in a couple of restaurants (use your judgment) where I didn't use the flash because it was dark and the tables were close together and nobody else had a camera.

I would have been assuming that it might be bothersome to other guests because of the flash, but I've seen a couple of opinions from persons who made it clear they aren't offended by guests taking photos of each other but they ARE offended by those who take photos of the food, I guess because at some level they believe people are legitimate photography subjects, but food isn't. I think food is a totally worthwhile photography subject.

One time a lady in WPE asked me if I was taking a picture for disboards :lmao: I was like how did you know! She told me how much she enjoyed reading all of our reviews and looking at our pictures.

Not that I can really recall but I try not to use the flash too much if possible. ETA: sometimes my pictures come out better without the flash anyway - the reflection off a really stark white plate sometimes washes out the photo.

Actually, on our last trip we were at FF and the lady at the table next to me saw me taking pics and said to her DH, "SEE, she takes pictures of her food!" I guess he gives her a hard time about it:rotfl:.

WE've eaten at Sci-Fi several times, and every single time the server has asked us if we have a camera and takes photos of us in the car...when we've been seated with other people, the server also takes several pics of them. And all the flashes I've seen around the restaurant it was the same: it's the waiter or waitress taking photos of the occupants of the car. They have never asked how to turn off the flash, either so I assume it's considered completely acceptable to take the photos with the flash in there. And by the way, the pictures of people in the cars turn out very good with the flash.

Have taken 100s of food photos at Disney...my experience has been that for food close-ups, no-flash usually works best with my digital cameras. Now I say *usually* because every now and then the ambiant light in the restaurant doesn't work for a good photo and I do try a flash pic.

I have no issue with anyone taking flash photos in the Disney restaurants as long as they don't want to sit on my lap to get the best angle, lol.

...there is ALWAYS a bunch a different celebrations going on at Disney restaurants and people will want photos of the event. It's not like a superstar is there and 50 paparazzi are flashing hundreds of photos the whole time we're trying to eat...it's usually just a flash here & there. Don't even notice it at all usually. Just not a problem for us.

It's probably just a matter of you not being in the right place at the right time. I guess some folks may be taking photos on the "sly", but not me. I stage the table, rearranging the plates even, when necessary, to get all the food into an attractive photo arrangement. I have even stood up to get the photo when the light levels are producing glares or a seated photo will not show the food at the best angle . No secretive spy-photography for me, lol. I have even had waiters offer to remove extra plates from table/used bread plates, etc. so that I can get a "prettier" food photo. They obviously are used to people taking photos of food.

I have had people reading my reviews on here who posted that they saw me at this or that restaurant, taking the pictures of the food.:woohoo:

I've never received comments, nor can I say I've ever noticed any strange looks. I'm very careful to not take photos when I think it might be distracting to other patrons, though. If a restaurant is dimly lit and tables are close together, I just won't take pictures.

Just got back from 5 days at the World and we took photos of everything we ate...TS, QS, Food and Wine Festival. We never got any funny looks. I'm not really sure I would have cared if we did!

I'm going to be taking pictures this upcoming trip and while I don't care so much about being embarrassed, I think my DH will be. Already warned him though! I think he might get a little annoyed to of me taking pictures before he starts to dig in... so I'll have to do his plate pics first!
