Having just looked at k-herms awesome cannon photo from SM (avatar)..

Are you guys brave enough to take photos on the fast rides??

I'd love a photo like that on SM, but wouild panic about putting my camera somewhere safe before blast off!!

I'd love BTM photos too but doubt the strength of my cameras wrist strap! Any hints?!?

I do it occasionally, but in my opinion, you have to be absolutely sure of what the ride is like, so you know you're not going to drop your camera.

It's only really worth taking photos on lift hills or similar though, as the rides tend to be moving far too fast at the other points, so you just end up with a blurry photo (at least in my experience you do).

I guess for something like space mountain, just make sure the camera is accessible and ready before you leave the station, know how long you have (know when the train launches from the canon), then take the camera out of your pocket, snap the picture and carefully return it to the camera.

BTM is much easier because the lift hills are quite long, but it's a similar technique to space mountain.

If you're in any doubt of the ride, the timings or your ability to take the picture though, I wouldn't risk it because you could end up causing something worse than a lost camera if you drop the camera at the wrong time :)

Cool, we'll give it a practice run on BTM. :)

I'm pretty confident I know all of the rides there, but i'm even too much of a woos to have my camera out on btm as yet. Lol.

I recon on SM I'd be ok jsut holding it after blast off. like it if was round my wrist and then i held it with both my hands in front of my chest....

I'll completely forget to take photos when i am there as I get too excited!!

I have take a few on ride photos on BTMRR but I know the places now where it is easier to take them and where it is not as bumpy that you might drop your camera. I might trip some on Space Mtn next trip as I like that canon photo too!

And i'll never take a flash photo on an indoor ride.....

as its like my peeviest pet peeve of all

Gosh even mentioning BTM has made me giddy and excited - only 33 days.

I cant get too giddy though as DD doesnt know yet

when i last went i braved taking my camera on indiana jones to get a video of the ride and that was fine! mind you if anything had happened to it i would have been devastated it cost me £200 and i'd only have had it for 2 weeks

I took this one handed on BTMRR in April, I'm surprised how well it came out!

while we were queuing up for PM i told my brother i hated people taking flash photos on indoor rides, so what does he do...gets out his phone on the ride and starts taking pictures. But then the ride got stopped and i told him it was because he was taking photographs and he stopped after that :rotfl:

can you change the ISO setting on your camera? i havent tried my camera out on buzz yet but i think if you put your camera on a really high ISO setting your pics might come out. I managed to get a couple of sneaky pics of animagique that way :thumbsup2

i don't think its as good as rock n roller and SM but i always enjoy it, it hurts less now coz i've mastered which points i need to have my head away from the head rest so i don't get knocked around so much :rotfl:

If the camera came out of your hands (on a roller coaster styleeee type ride) and it fell onto the track, would it de-rail the 'train'? I thought there was a no photography sign on these rides?? Or is that just a caustion abou the flash annoying people???

It wouldn't de-rail the train - it would take a lot more than a camera to cause that.

The bigger risk would be dropping it onto somebody below. It's not such a risk on BTM, but if you were unlucky and dropped it while you were upside down on SM, then it could theoretically fall and hit somebody.

My DH took this one of my DS and I on Orbitron in August. I really like it!

I don't usually remember to take pictures during rides but sometimes my DH gets good ones. They are wonderful when they come out well.
