I am in Orlando alone for a few days. Wanting to take myself out for a date at a Disney Restaurant - I have a rewards card from my Chase Disney Visa :dogdance:

Don't want to pay for park admission, so looking for a restaurant at one of the resorts or Downtown Disney. Something quiet-ish. Would appreciate recommendations. Thanks! :thanks:

Quiet is a bit hard to find, especially with the dining plans driving so many families into even the high-end restaurants, but there are a few options. If you like sushi, Kimonos at the Swan is very good and generally not loud until karaoke starts after 9PM. bluezoo at the Dolphin is also very good, and the staff is quite adept at making single diners feel comfortable. Both Jiko and Sanaa at the Animal Kingdom lodge also do a nice job with solo diners. The Wave at the Contemporary is usually not too crazy for dinner, and has some nice options. Unfortunately, although the restaurants at Downtown Disney can be lots of fun, there are none I would consider quiet at all. In the end, I would suggest taking a look at the menus and see what appeals to you.

I don't know how hard a reservation is to get, but how about California Grill at the Contemporary? If you time it right, you could even watch Wishes fireworks from there.

I second the California Grill! I LOVED everything we tried there on our last trip, and wouldn't hesitate to take myself on a date there in the future given the opportunity! :)

We like "Fulton's Crab House". It sits right on the river at downtown Disney. I don't know how quiet it will be.

My family has a tradition of sending Mom to tea at the GF for some alone time (4 males + 1 hotel room + Disney running us ragged = me needing a minute to myself). Lovely and quiet; you usually see a solo diner or two. Anyway, just an alternate idea to a regular restaurant!

Jiko's. It's relatively quiet and often not busy, especially for early or later dining. It has a really nice wine list. Lots of nice appetizers if you want to make a meal out of a few instead of an entrée. Treat yourself to a glass of Amarula for dessert.

Jiko at Animal Kingdom, Yachtsman Steakhouse (ask to sit towards the back), citricos at Grand Floridian are all fairly "quiet" by Disney standards.

They have a dining counter where they make the appetizers. This would be an awesome place for a solo dinner!

Kimonos if you enjoy sushi. Service is excellent, food too. As PP noted, quiet from 5:30 until karaoke starts much later. If sushi is not your thing, Citricos is also a good bet.

I do grand tea at GF solo every trip and I do make it my lunch. I agree Jiko might be fun, there is a small lounge at the Yacht Club that serves bar type food that might be nice.

What about that Dining with an Imagineer...probably wouldn't fit with your dates, but maybe.

Another vote for Jiko. The food was delicious and it was the quietest Disney restaurant I've ever eaten in. Plus AKL is so cool. You can watch the animals with night vision goggles after you eat

We only visit five TS eateries at WDW when we go there for an actual meal. *
1) We prefer
. . . fine food
. . . excellent, top notch service
. . . innovative dishes with flair and quality
. . . overall great value
. . . relaxed and soothing dining atmosphere
. . . behaved and somewhat quiet patrons
.
2) The only sit-down restaurants we routinely visit,
. . . Sanaa - Animal Kingdom Villas Resort (one of my personal favs)
. . . Artist Point - Wilderness Lodge Resort
. . . Citricos - Grand Floridian Resort
. . . Shula's Steakhouse - Dolphin Resort (no DDP)
. . . Il Mulino - Swan Resort (no DDP)
.
3) Our (nearby) off-site Recommendations:
. . . Bull & Bear - Waldorf Astoria Bonnet Creek - Fine Dining
. . . Café D'Antonio - Celebration - Casual Italian
. . . Columbia - Celebration - Casual Spanish/Cuban
. . . Fish Bones - Hwy192 - Seafood
. . . Venetian Room - Caribe Royale Hotel - Fine Dining
. . . The Hotel Tea Room - Davenport, FL - Casual - Friday Steak-Fry, Afternoon Tea

IF you can use that Disney rewards card at Blue Zoo or Shula's--that's where I would go solo. And eat at the bar in either restaurant. You can get a full meal and by WDW standards it's relatively quiet.

Solo at the bar at Narcoossee's and Citricos is also relatively quiet. Not so the California Grill--due to where the bar is located it's always noisy. Same for Flying Fish (tho the food there is quite good!!

Thank you so much for all of the suggestions! I appreciate them all very much.

I am leaning towards Jiko or Sanaa. Is there a big difference between them? It seems like Jiko is simply more upscale. I LOVES me some naan, and it looks like they make it at both locations.

Any opinions on one over the other? Thanks again :)
