Here it goes! I have been on these boards for a couple of months now and I have seen all the WISH clipart and wondered what it meant, but I never really looked into it until now. Here I am!

When I met my DH he was 235# and I was 130#. He is now about 330# and I am 190# - yikes! My DH lost a lot of weight before (110#) to get to 235# and I need help motivating myself and him. I would like to lose 40# - that would be nice, but I am not so much obsessed with the number on the scale so mcuh as I would like to wear smaller clothes! I want to fit into a size 10 again, no matter what I weigh.

I am thinking about getting pregnant this spring and I fear that if I have a baby I will NEVER lose the baby weight - especially if I can't do it now.

Here is my plan.
1> To eat better at work by bringing food with me and not having my afternoon cookie. (They make the best cookies here)
2> To make my portions smaller. I cannot make a meal for 4 people and split it between 2 people anymore.
3> To drink more water and keep myself beter hydrated.
4> To get back to some kind of workout plan. I was on a program at the Y not too long ago and I lost 1% body fat (hey, it's something). I need to exercise - I'll start with once a week and move up.

If you've made it this far - thank you for reading my rant. Just writing this down and announcing to other people is a big help. I will post back with my results!

Ducky- Welcome to WISH!

Good for you to change to a healthier living style. And if you do decide to get pregnant this spring, it is a style that you can continue through pregnancy. Believe me, trying to limit your weight gain for those 9 months is very important for both you and the baby.
Exercise is a VERY important part of your plan. I am new here to WISH, but a veteran at this weight lose thing. Try to exercise a couple of times a week. Even if it is only for 10 or 15 min. You'll work your way up to longer and get better results all around. I bought the FIRM workout tapes based on what I read here. WATP (Walk Away the Pounds) tapes are also very popular and maybe something you could look into.
Anyhow, welcome! This board is a WONDERFUL source of support and encouragement, so come back often.

Welcome and good luck to you. You will find some great support here. I just came to WISH about a week or so ago and everyone has been terrific. I find everyone's stories so inspiring. That alone helps keep me motivated, which has always been my problem. Looking forward to seeing you around!

HI Ducky ... WELCOME !!! Your 4-point plan as a starting point is awesome. You have already committed to a healthier lifestyle by just working out some of these logistics. I totally hear you when you refer to the "baby weight". I weighed about 180 going into my first pregnancy. Got back down to 180 very quickly after. But never less. Then the second one came along ... started at 185, got down to 195 after. And jumped to my all-time high of 208 through the 3 years that followed. I have lost 35 pounds on WISH and the last time I weighed this, was maybe back in 1995. So if you can lose a little before the pregnancy, it will definitely help you in the long run. WATER .... WATER .... WATER is a definite key.

Visit us often, and keep us posted on your success ! We're always here if you ever need us !
