We are headed to Disney next month before my DH heads to Afghanistan. This is my DD's senior year and he will probably miss her graduation. We are allowing her to take a friend along on the trip. We have taken the kids' friends along on other trips, but never to Disney or when we were flying. What documentation do I need (other than her health insurance info) so that we don't have any problems?

I don't think anything is required since you aren't leaving the country but some people take a notarized letter from the parents.

You shouldn't need anything for them since you aren't leaving the country. My parents used to take my friends along with us when I was in HS and we never needed anything at the airport.

They did however, have the parents write a note saying that they were responsible for their child for the given dates and that they could make medical decisions. We never needed this but they wanted to make sure that if they couldn't get a hold of their parents right away the friend could still receive medical treatment. I'm not sure if this is legally required but it made my parents feel better while traveling with a minor that wasn't theirs.

Just remind her not to forget her license :)

This is what we did when our kids had friends along too. We would draw up a form that stated that the 'child' had permission to be with and also that we could make medical decisions. On the paper we also had them list their insurance, and their child's doctor & number. It just made DH and I feel more comfortable.
