I am taking my daughter who will be 6 when we go to Disney for the first time. She is so excited to be going to see Snow White but I have a few questions. We are flying down and wanted to know about checking in our stroller at the gate. Is there a fee for doing so? I want to take the stroller because when she is tired of walking she whines a lot and I have always taken a stroller when we go to unfamilar places and it's worked out great. Also since it's just the two of us when we have the stroller in the park and want to go on a ride where would we leave the stroller? My daughter only weighs 39lbs so weight isn't an issue I just don't want to carry her throughout the park when she gets tired. We are going down May 2nd-May 7th. We are booking our flight and trip on Friday when I get my tax return in my bank. My daughter is so excited!:cloud9:

I don't know of any airline that charges a fee to check a stroller at the gate. When you get to your gate, just go to the attendant and tell them you want to check the stroller, they will give you a tag to attach to it, and when you board they will stow your stroller in a place where they can get to it when you land. Then when you do land they will get it out for you! (just make sure nothing comes off it like cup-holders or trays cuz they can get lost!) At the parks there is tooons of stroller parking in front of all the rides and shows, and ive never had anyone bother my stroller. Have a magical trip...:wizard::wizard::wizard: Tell Snow White 'Hi' for us!

The PP gave great info. Gate checking the stroller is so easy, and after you leave the plane, you wait right there for your stroller (in that long hallway - the name escapes me).

There are signs near many attractions (not all) that say "Stroller Parking". We leave non-valuables on the stroller, and they are fine (water bottles, snacks, hand gel, etc.) Take anything valuable in another bag with you onto the attraction. Also, just be aware that sometimes the CMs move strollers - rearrange to pack more in. So, sometimes, your stroller isn't exactly where you left it!

If you have a common-looking stroller, it helps to hang a colorful tag or piece of fabric so you can find it quickly.

On our last trip to Disney, I had one checked suitcase for the 2 of us, stroller and car seat for my son. The airline check in told me that the stroller and car seat are considered Safety Items so they are not allowed to charge for them. I think that she thought I was just checking one suitcase to make up for having the car seat but I find when it is just the 2 of us, it is too difficult to juggle all the equipment so I pack one suitcase I can pull behind me and use my other hand to push my son in the stroller. I had the car seat because I was renting a car. You will have a wonderful vacation with your daughter.:wizard:

I had a cheap umbrella when we went when dd was 2 she hardly used it but it did enough duty to be worth bringing for sure. I left it in stroller parking spots are found quite easily at any of the rides. When we went when dd was 5(about to turn 6 the next month) she didnt use a stroller. Though she DID hop in the one my best friend rented for her newly(birthday visit) 4 year old. So yeah older kids can get wore out and want a stroller.

Well done taking her alone. Might make it hard for you to do some rides but it will still be enjoyable. I notice it was way more fun experiencing it through her than getting to ride say Space Mountain. She would have went on it but it was close when we were there. She did ride Splash Mt and Big Thunder though. I'm going to be possibly bringing my 6 year old dd for her first trip to Disneyland(been to Magic Kingdom twice) for her 7th birthday and it may end up being just the two of us.

Thanks everyone for the answers so quickly. We have a Maclaren Volo stroller and it was a life saver for when we went to DC and had to walk 8 blocks to get to the Zoo and then all throughout the zoo and then back the 8 blocks to get to the metro and then another 10 blocks to get to the car. So I figured this might work out for us. I am taking a large bag, carry on and a carryon for her with her books, leapster and coloring books for the flight to there. I wish I had another person going with me but it's just me and her and I thought what a great way to celebrate her 6th birthday a week late by going to Disney world!:wizard: Also have any of you done any of the tea parties or anything else with your little ones? It might be a while before we get back to disney after this trip! Unless I win the lotto or something. LOL:rotfl:
