What is a good age to take your LO for the first time??How old was your LO??My DD is 6 months old but by the time we go she will be almost 18 months, is that to young??

NO, NO, NO, IT'S NEVER TOO YOUNG!!!!

I took DS when he was 14 months old, and while he doesn't remember it, we made some beautiful memories with him, some of my favorite Disney memories of all time.

Go, go, go. You will leave with some wonderful memories and surely some Disney magic!

honestly, i think it's up to you and your child --- if you think she will be ready for disney and not over stimulated, go for it...i am sure you will all have a blast...

for us, we are taking a trip for 7 days in May and we are only taking our 2 girls, 13 & 7 --- our son, who will be 6weeks shy of 3, is going to grandma's for the week...

this is our personal decision as we want our girls to get the most out of their first disney trip --- our son hates to ride in a stroller much less nap in one and if we were to take him we would have 1 grumpy 2 year old on our hands...there is no way we would be able to take him to a park in the morning and then come back midday and get him to nap, he would be too stimulated to even attempt to nap...

besides, with our son not going, it just gives us a reason to make another trip (which we are already saving for) when he is 6 and he will enjoy it a little more...

Is it the one and only time your family will ever ever be there? Wait until baby is older.

If it's something your family already enjoys, or thinks they will enjoy, and will continue to do...go whenever you want to go. Babies are quite portable!

It is never too young to go to Disney. My son went for the first time when he was 14 months old and my daughter was 4 months old. They have both loved Disney from the beginning.

My two boys have been to disney already...My 17 year old could really careless to go but it's a family vacation so everyone goes...Just wondering if i should wait because of her age...If i did take her at the age of 18 months what would she be able do at disney??When i took my boys they were both alot older, i think 6 and 13...

We have taken our kids as young as 9 months and always had a good time!!

We took DS on every ride w/o a height restriction. He really enjoyed Small World, Pirates of the Carribbean, Peter Pan (but hold her tightly), he enjoyed the shows like Finding Nemo and Fantasmic, he LOVED Festival of the Lion King and the Safari. There really isn't much that she couldn't do. Espcially since your DS17 can go on rides alone (w/o your supervision) and take DS10 with him when they go on the mountains!

Festival of the Lion King with DS was my favorite time in Disney ever, and I've gone about 22 times. It was so amazing to watch his excitement. DS also loved swimming in the pool (but you can do that anywhere). I do agree that if this is the one and only time you'll take her, I'd wait too so not only can you enjoy watching her excitement, but she will remember it too. However, if you plan on taking her back as a slightly older little girl (4-6), there's no harm in going now. It won't cost you anymore to have her with you because she's under 3 (because she's under 2 she can fly for free too if you hold her on your lap).

Good Luck! I write in more detail about DS's first time in my pre-trip report if your interested (links in my signature).

Our youngest went for the first time at 11 mos. He doesnt remember, but I can still see him craining his little neck to see all the dolls on its a small world. And it didnt cost me anything to take him. At 20 mos, its was pretty much the same only he was heavier. At 3, he had an opnion about things we did and still didnt like the characters. When he was 5 was probably one of my favorites because he was all into the characters, talking to them and hamming it up for the pictures, thoug I doubt he remembers much of that trip not that he's 9.

Go. Enjoy.

A lot of people say certain ages are too young because they won't remember - heck I don't remember half the things I did when I was a kid. But, the memories YOU will have of the trip will be priceless. In the past year, we've taken DS14 months, 3 times, and each time is more and more precious. This past trip, 2 weeks ago, was so wonderful. I loved being able to share the magic of Disney with him. He liked exploring the hotel room (and game room) was mesmerized by the rides, was intrigued by the characters, LOVED the childrens pool at Pop! He was so good and we have such great pictures. Hopefully, it will be the first of many more Disney trips in DD's future!

Our first trip as a family DS was almost 3 and DD 18 months. I have to say it was one of the best trips we've taken to the World. Why you ask? Nobody argued with me, they were just along for the ride. Everything was exciting and fun. DD was able to take a power nap in the stroller everyday and she did great. Plenty of rides and shows geared toward the very young crowd. We've been back 6 times since then but that is still my favorite trip because they were just truely happy the entire time. People said I was crazy and wasting our money because they won't remember it, but I remember it. The pictures and memories are precious to me.

I couldn't have said it better myself :)

We organized a big family trip before my sister and I both knew we were pregnant. She took her 4 month old and I took my six week old. No finer place to recover from childbirth than at Disney I say! We had a great time but we do go often. As another poster said, if this is your trip of a lifetime, wait two years. If not, have a blast! Enjoy snuggling with your little one in one of the most child friendly vacations spots in the world. An 18 month old will love so much about it - the characters, the pool, pooh's honey pots, dumbo, small world, the lizards on the sidewalk, the splash pads, the mickey bars, the animals, the shows... Enjoy!

See our trip report below from our trip in 2006 with our 18 month old. It was great fun.

Pros: great time, especially the character meal, the bus rides, meeting pooh & tigger in the toy store (UK at epcot), etc.

Cons: September was too hot. He could walk, but we had to carry him or push him in the stroller because we wouldn't get anywhere. He kept stopping to look at every little thing engrained in the pavement, checked all park benches, and trash cans. At Epcot, there were a few buildings we could not take the stroller in so we had to carry him. By the end of a week, our arms felt a couple inches longer. Also for us, 7 days was too long. 5 or 6 would have been plenty.

Have a great time!!!! Take lots of photos!

Oooo - I totally agree about the hot thing. Being from Canada, we just can't manage to go anytime between May and September. I am one of those people who don't handle heat well and I worry about the kids. Luckily, Halloween, Christmas, Valentines and Easter are all wonderful times to go!

We are planning to take our two children when they are 3.5 years and 19 months. But we are going in December to avoid the heat as us adults don't deal well with it let alone the kiddies. Go with what you think will work for your family.

The younger the better...once they can walk it will be much more hassle until they are a bit older.

We are taking our 28 month old twins in October....we had originally planned for a trip when they were 17 months, but we freaked out at the last minute.

I hope 28 months is great!

My DD's first trip was at 11 months old and she did great. We are currently on our 4th trip with her and she's not even 3 yet. The only thing I can add is to watch some youtube videos of kids meeting characters so they know how big they are, just be careful to not show ones of kids freaking out. :thumbsup2 We did this with DD and she just loves all the characters. DD's cousin (5 months older than DD), who was with us last April, did not like the characters at all. :confused3

We brought DD at 8 mo and she loved it!!!! In her own way but still loved it! We are bringing her back at 25 mo and we cant wait to see her reaction. You are never too young to go. Your child will get something out of it at any age.
