We are considering renting an RV and taking our kitties with us to WDW. They are indoor only, and love to travel with us (they have been all the way to New Orleans twice in the EV Weekender). Does anyone have any experience with this? Would we be required to stay in a pet loop? They would be inside the RV at all times, and would probably prefer to not be surrounded by doggies (since doggies talk more). Also, would we pay the $5/nt fee since they would not be using the facilities (dog runs, etc)? Any thoughts on this would be appreciated, as we have only stayed in the cabins and have never been able to take them WDW. They really want to go, too - every time I bring up the WDW website they get excited by the music and all the pictures...

Technically yes, they are required to be in a pet lop and you are required to pay the $5 per night fee.

But, with that said I have seen lots of cats lounging on the dashboard of Class As & Cs in no pet loops.

I would suspect that kitties are not required to stay in the pet loop as long as they stay inside. I would also find it hard to believe that you would be required to pay $5 extra either. Personally I don't understand why we have to pay $5 extra for pets anyway. It doesn't cost Disney anything extra for me to bring my dog but just another way to get some more dollars. Sure they have doggies bag available for your use but a dog certainly doesn't use $5 worth of bags a day. In fact, I've never used their bags - they are too small for my doggie. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1
I would recommend that you call FW directly and find out.

After inquiring about the dogs we saw in the 1400 loop during our Jan. and Feb. visits to FW I asked about the need to get a pet loop for our Persian. We will now have to bring him with us when we go in June so I wanted to know if I had to revise our resies we already have for a non pet loop. I mentioned that he was a strickly indoor cat and the answer was that we did not need to change the resie. I mentioned that I would happily pay the $5.00 per night and was told might not have to worry about it.

Just got off phone with FW front desk and asked again about need to change resie and was told that most likely would not need to change to pet loop but when we get there they would make the final call at check in. Told tham again that I would have no problem with the fee and again told might not be any.

We shall see.

John

If you don't let your cats outside the RV, you should be fine in any loop.

Far as the charge for pets, well Disney probably has to carry additional liabiltiy insurance now for these pet loops. Its just a matter of time until someone gets bit/injured and sues Disney (if it already hasn't happened). While 99% of dogs are gentle and taken care of by their owners there has been pet owners with dogs who don't obey the leash rules/ect.

Talk to Disney staff that works these pet loops and they will also tell you of some nasty messes they have to clean up where some dog owners don't follow the rules. We go to FT W throughout the year and most pet peeps take care of the doggie doo and keep their animals under control but of course theres always the ones who don't think the rules apply to them.

I just made our next ressie and this will be a first trip with pet. I was surprised about the extra $5 per night but figured that FW does have to do some clean up after all the pets go through so don't mind. I may even use the kennels a day or two so she can get out and run a bit so that will be more $$$.

We always camp with our beagle at FW. When I consider the total cost of a WDW vacation, the additional charge for the pet loop and the daily charge for the kennel are minimal. In fact, I consider it one of Disney's best bargains. Most campgrounds don't provide the waste bags, and many will banish you to a most disgusting area of the campground if you travel with a dog. My only complaint is with those who don't clean up after their dog. A couple of years ago, one allowed his dog to leave his doo on the road right in front of my spot. I don't mind cleaning up after my dog, but I hate cleaning up after another, and this one must have been an elephant.

By the way, today it is 13 degrees here in PA with about 6 inches of snow from last night. You know, I'd even clean up after other dogs if I could be in FW right now! :cold:

I think my cats love camping as much as we do! As soon as they hear the engine start they sit by the door. Most days they lay in the window , soaking up the sun and watching people walking their dogs. We keep all the characters on our dash and the cat is usually curled up in mickey's lap! Just be careful they don't sneak out the door.
