Ok, here we go. I am leaving in 16 more days and i am looking to see how i can save money. Any way you all have saved money please let me know. I am only taking 1000 dollars with me. I am filling my suit case with alot of my old disney things. LIke my poncho, alot of disney gadgets, my mist fan, my son has a hat from mgm, and i am taking alot of disney clothes with us.

I am also packing snack, band aids. Please help. help me thing of things to take so i won't have to buy it there.

sunscreen
children's pain/fever med
children's cold medicine
adult pain med
adult cold med
tampons/pads (just in case)

I take back my Disney Towels, glow sticks for the children, i also take alot of disney shirts and other disney things. So i am not tempted to buy things i don't need.

If you are taking a cell phone don't forget the charger. If your phone has roaming and ld included, those calls are a lot cheaper than using the phone in your room.

In the past these are the things I have forgotten:
water bottle holder
sunscreen (even in Dec. you can need it).
Mickey earrings
Mickey watch
bug spray

Knowing me i would forget the charger. Because i never use the one for my house, so i am going to go and put it in my suitcase right now. I always use the one for our car. Thanks a bunch!!!!

Cortisone cream & Benadryl for those pesky Florida bug bites! ;)
Eyeglass repair kit (for prescription & sunglasses)
Extra camera batteries/rolls of film

We always take back with us our disney T-shirts, beach towels, backpacks, ponchos, and disney hats or ears! We don't use these things much at home if at all (ok, beach towels) but still we really get use out of them there so we pack them and save our money for other things. Helps cut down on the souviner's just one or two new things.

i would rather spend my money going to disney then on disney things. That is what i tell myself when i enter a Disney Store anyway!

Hey Raggedy--you might have misunderstood my post on your other thread--your $1000 sounds like an excellent budget...reread the calculations--if you and your son eat the way you say you do--the food spending would be less--but even on the high side I had you at about $700 for food (assuming dad needs to eat--you say he is at convention--if he is, even better on your food budget if he is fed over there)..if you and your son eat light (I know I do), breakfasts would be more like $5 pp and that would shave $70 off the food costs right there (halfing the $10 amount that I listed) making it $630.

Heck, bring a package of your own bagels. If you are driving--pack a cooler with the cream cheese. That in breakfasts would save you another $70 and bring your estimated food costs down to $560--just above half of your cash.

You have plenty of wiggle room. Especially if son is using his b-day money and you don't plan on souvenirs.

We bring back our autograph books, pins if you have them so you can trade them, medications, battery charger and batteries, hats (mouse ears, princess hats, whatever), a fave character we already have, et cetera.

Enjoy your trip and don't sweat the budget!

moleskin for blisters
or inserts for your shoes
A little bottle to pop asprin /allergy meds in that you can carry around in the park.
Ziploc baggies

What I've forgotten is a large bag for dirty clothes.(garbage bags) I also put detergent and fabric softener in small ziplocs for wash at disney. $2.00 for a small box of detergent there. Also I forgot my fanny pack once and bought a very nice one at Disney ($24.00) A little steep. My ds forgot a summer hat last time.
Have a great trip!!

That mention of a summer hat reminded me that I really like to have a visor - even in the winter.

thanks for all the good answers. I hope i don't forget anything on this trip. :earseek:

Lisa loves Pooh

I am just nervous about my budget. I am afraid to go over it. I am going to take the credit cards just in case. This is just a surprise trip. I am happy about it. But already over spent and i am not even there yet. LOL. I am sorry that i read your post wrong and have a great time at the wedding.

I never forget socks - but I always end up buying a pair! I need to learn to carry a pair through the parks.

I'll wear sandals without socks (of course!) and then something will happen - last time my Choco's (which are water sandals) got wet and caused blisters. Well, we didn't want to go back to the room for socks and tennis shoes, so I was buying socks (and running around oh-so-fashionably in Minnie bobby socks and sandals - glad all the photos are from the waist up!).

One trick to cut down on the souvieniers - don't make time for shopping! If you spend all your time riding/in line for attractions or in the pool, you will be cruising down Mainstreet thinking "I'll stop in there later." Keep yourself busy with the "paid for" stuff and out of the shops, and later may never come.

Other things:

Books or magazines for the plane
Things to keep the kids busy on the plane or waiting
Gum
Snacks
Sunglasses (always forget mine)
an extra bag that is small when empty (like a duffle) for laundry and "stuff" - if you forget this, the giftshops will give you "free luggage" in the form of big shopping bags. I know several Disers have had to buy luggage at WDW!

I love this thread....

We took lots back with us this summer

-autograph books
-t-shirts
-princess hats
-water bottle holder
-mister fan

Another thing I did, which may be harder for you if time is short, is that I bought some souveniers ahead on clearance at the DS. Little DD(2yrs old) got a new toy without evening shopping. I bought a few things at the Dollar Store or Walmart and brought them out when the kids were good a deserved a little something special.

You will have a great trip. You'll be at the most magical place on Earth!

We always take all of the above!

HAHA This last trip in May, my DD12 decided she had to take ALL of her Disney stuffed animals and dolls! She said they needed to go home and visit! Good thing we drove. I think she had about 3 or 4 suitcases just for them! HAHA

Thanks for reminding me about magazines. Just called my mother in law after i read magazines. I told her i needed her old people magazines. :teeth:

ricktib I wish i had some old mugs. LOL

I just remembered something. MY Glasses. I wear contacts, i never wear them. But just in case. I went to the eye doctor this week and they gave me a couple of free trial pairs of contacts. All you have to do is tell them that you would like to try a different brands and they will give you some to try.

I always pack some snack crackers and/or granola bars in a fanny pack. Also, i eat breakfast in my room. Bagels-PopTarts-Breakfast bars-etc.
Carrying a few snacks in a backpack or bag definately saves $. At the end of the day, I never have leftover snacks in my bag. They are always eaten throughout the day. And you can get a box of snack crackers (or other snack) from your local grocery for the price of a single drink at the parks.

I avoid buying souvenirs at the parks. It's always less expensive off site .... especially for the kids souvenirs.

Rainforest Cafe at A.K. has some great bargain apparel .
