Taking home Zebra Domes

Has anyone ever tried to take a package or 4 of zebra domes home? I saw a picture that showed them being refrigerated and I was wondering if I placed them in a freezer bag with a few cold packs; would it be sufficient for an all day flight home? Thanks!

I've never tried it, but my first concern would be whether the freezer packs would make it through security. Ever since they took away my can of soup and jar of preserves (both sealed items I'd bought to bring home), I just don't know. And I'd be afraid that it would all melt and squish up if you tried to pack the zebra domes.

Thank you and those are valid concerns, but I'm planning on packing them in my checked bags within Tupperware type containers. Also technically a cold pack should be able to make it through security. I used to be a screener for the TSA and I haven't seen them turned away at the particular airport where I worked at, but who knows what other airports will do :/

I was all set to fall all over myself praising you for posting the recipe (how had I never even thought to search for it?!). And then I clicked the link. And read the reacipe. I am a decent cook and can tackle some fancy stuff when motivated, but I think I'll savor the anticipation and just wait until my next trip to have another! My next trip may be 2 years away, but it looks like it would take me almost that long to make those from scratch!

I kept my Zebra Domes, purchased from Mara at AKL, in my fridge at POR for a few days. They didn't hold up well. They got very mooshy (if that's a word). Weren't desirable to anybody, and I threw them away, sadly.

I haven't had much luck keeping Zebra Domes more than a day. I could make them, except I don't have the flexidome pan. Hmmmm

This is what I would expect, they won't hold up for any length of time under the best of conditions. Best bet is book an ADR at Boma and begin the AYCTE with the Zebra Domes first! ;)

They are considered gel by TSA (although we all know YMMV by agent). So is peanut butter. Go figure.
