Taking Gift Cards Thru Airport Scanner

Has anyone ever taken gift cards thru the new airport scanners ? We are taking some disney gift cards with us on our next trip in the carryon or my camera bag and was wondering if they will be affected by the scanners and if so what you can do to prevent it from being erased. Thanks

Same here! In fact, I took some this past Oct and again in Dec. Never had a problem.

There are no 'new' scanners at the airports that are going to affect anything you are carrying. Everything comes out of your pockets...everything. All that stuff goes into the bins on the converyor belt and goes through the regular old scanners that have been around forever.
I have yet to have anything messed up by those scanners.

Cards with magnetic strips are unaffected by airport scanners. How do you think all of those millions of wallets pass through without harm every year?

If you are speaking of the new body scanners, you cannot have anything in your pockets for these, so no cards are going to go through them anyway.

One may go throught the WTMD (old scanner) with non-metallic items in pockets. One may, depending on the blue shirt, also go throught the body imaging scanners (new scanners) with ones wallet in hand.

That said, it is probably safest to put one's wallet and valuables into a locked carry-on that will go through the regular x-ray.

Neither x-ray nor the microwave burst will damage a card's magnetic strip info.
