We are going in October and last year when we went my husband was very ill the whole time and had problems with he food in the hotel AKL, it was great for us but not for him, so this year we planned to take something with us, but have been told that you cannot take anything with you and if you did you would have to declare it, can anyone tell me if this is true, we were only planning to take things like cup a soups

Here is a link to Customs advice regarding what is/in not allowed to be brought into the USA.

If you will have a car while you are over there, you might be as well to buy some supplies at the local Walmart. Alternatively, why not have some groceries delivered to your resort?

Hmm.... I suspect plain chicken flavored Cup-a-Soup (with nothing else in it) would probably pass muster, but I wonder if that wouldn't just be a waste: Do we know where Cup-a-Soup is packaged? It could be that the Cup-a-Soup you get at home comes from the same factory as the Cup-a-Soup on resort hotel store shelves.

What the USDA is looking for, by the way, is mostly agricultural products: Fresh fruit and vegetables are definitely prohibited. Even packaged meat products are not allowed. Generally baked goods are okay (unless they contain fruit or vegetables, I suppose).

Thank for the replys, they were of help, hope l don.t need them this year and we have a good holidays

You can bring vegetable cup of soups (dried ones ) I bring them all the time with no problem just once they have no meat in them I also bring bread and butter

You will have no problems with them, just be sure to declare them. What will happen is they will ask if you have food, you say yes, and what it is they will say that is fine and off you go.

If you don't declare them and they find it. You have lied on an offical document and they can fine you. (is this likely, probably not)

I declare any food, as that is what the form says, we have never had any issues taking stuff in or added any length of time to our trip through customs.
