Hello! I am taking my family of 5 (FL residents and frequent WDW visitors) along with my sister and my 19 year old cousin who has NEVER  been to WDW in July. My kids DS age 6, DS age 3, and DS age 10mo have not been there in awhile (youngest DS will be first time). Would like advice for what to show a 19yr old guy in the parks for the first time???? I don't want to bore him with tons of kiddie rides which we are used to! :)

Thanks!

Melanie

One important thing is to involve him in the planning. Be sure you know what he likes and doesn't like. There's nothing worse than assuming a 19-year-old guy will love Tower of Terror or Mission Space only to discover that thrill rides aren't his thing and he'd really much rather be trying all the cuisines of the countries of Epcot or spending time walking all the trails at DAK.

Give him a guidebook or steer him towards websites so that he can choose what sorts of things he'd like to do. That will help you put together the best possible plan (since you presumably already know what it is your own family likes!).

:earsboy:

As WDSearcher said above, don't assume he will like big rides, but most likely, he will. So here are the ones (if he does in fact like big fast rides) he'll like the most:

MK
Splash Mtn
Big Thunder Mtn. Railroad
Space Mtn.

Epcot
Test Track
Mision Space
Pretty girls working in World Showcase :)

MGM
Tower of Terror
Rockin' Roller Coster

AK
Dinosaur
Kaili (sp?) Rapids

He'll enjoy some of the smaller stuff, too, I'm sure, but these are the biggies! Again, make sure he is aware of all the attractions, you never know, maybe he's always wanted to be a pirate and will love POTC in MK!

Its not exactly in the parks, but the highlight of our trips for my DS16 is always when we go over to the Contemporary and rent the mouseboats. I know they have a different name now but I can't think of it. Have fun!!! Its really special to see Disney through the eyes of a first time visitor!

I have yet to meet a 19 year old guy who doesn't love video games. Disney Quest is a must. My brother (21) could and has spent entire days there...

Agree with the other posters though. Don't assume he will like the big rides. My boyfriend and I (we're in our late 20's/ early 30's)went in Feb and he'd never been and I assumed he'd like the roller coasters etc.

Well , his favorite thing at Magic Kingdom was the train ride around the park and mickey's Philharmagic. He also liked lunch with Pooh and Friends at the Crytsal Palace. And to think I spent all that time talking up Space Mountain and Splash Mountain to him...

As my DH is fond of pointing out, water parks are prime fun for your avg. adolescent/post-adolescent male, even if swimming is not a favorite activity. Don't underestimate the "eye candy" factor of swimming areas.
