Taking election day off

Come on now, let's not turn this into another one of those ranting lunatic political threads.

Why would you post that? Do you really think that's true? :confused3

well - what about shift workers? - nurses, retail workers. etc. If 95% of his supporters make under $250,000 I doubt they need to take the whole day off to vote.

Why what do you think I meant:confused3

Why do you guys make everything negative. No one said take the day off without pay. But if you have a personal day available why not? You would reduce your stress while you stand in line because you don't have to be at work, or because your tired after a long day, plus go when those working can't to ease the long lines. In Missouri we don't have the luxury of early voting, so the lines are always looooooooooooooooong.

So if all our employees take a personal day, are you willing to come in here and answer our phones, handle customer service, take orders ,do payroll, pay vendors? Don't know about you, but closing down shop doesn't seem like such a good idea, ya know?

Rude. Ignorant. Divisive.

Why what do you think I meant? How is that rude ignorant or divisive???

I took it to mean you think most of his supporters are unemployed.

Or maybe you can vote before or after work like everyone else does. Yeah, voting is a minor inconvenience...but well worth it.

well most of his supporters probably don't need the day off.

Jennifer,
Could you please explain this comment? At first reading this seems so ugly that I think that surely I am misunderstanding what you must have meant.

OK - third times a charm - let's hope it sticks this time

I'm sure employers are going to love this in our already stress economy! :rolleyes1

Just the beginning of:

"Give a man a fish he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, he'll eat for a lifetime."

From the Obama website:

Take Election Day off from work
and commit to volunteer November 4th!

We can't win this election unless every Obama supporter gets out and votes on November 4th. To do that, we need a massive team of volunteers helping us.

Can you take next Tuesday off from work, join the final push, and make sure that everyone who supports Barack turns out to vote?

You then are asked to 'pledge' to take the day off. You can't make this stuff up!

Here (Canada), by law, everyone is guaranteed 3 hours off work (paid) during the time that the polls are open (hours vary by province). In my riding, the polls were open from 9:30am to 9:30pm, so you had to be allowed to come to work after 12:30pm or leave before 6:30pm. In some cases, the employee is allowed to take off three hours during their work day to vote, rather than coming in late/leaving early.

I'm sure BO has unemployed supporters esp with share the wealth around - he has to give that wealth to someone. I'm sure some would like getting it. but I did not post that.

BOY you OS are in an uproar today- geez.

I'm not an OS :) I just took your statement that way. Sorry.

This ad is not asking people to take off work to vote. It's asking them to take off work to be a campaign volunteer.
