I know that it says you can't take food or drinks into the park but i am type 1 diabetic so I need to take juice in case I go low. I know I can't take juice boxes (which I normally use)but how big of a container of juice do you think i can bring in?
Thanks

You should be able to take juice boxes in without a problem. If you are concerned about being questioned, have a letter from your doctor. I always carry one for my DD who has food allergies so that she will be able to eat food that she likes and is safe. There has never been a problem.

Have you ever considered glucose tablets or gel? They're a quick dose of sugar without the calories of juice and would be easier to carry with you. The tablets are like giant Smarties candy and the gel is like what you'd write on a birthday cake with. Easily available at any pharmacy or most grocery stores with a medicine section.

I have never been questioned at all taking food or drinks into a park...we always take snacks..candy...water...never an issue

Juice boxes have straws and no straws are allowed in the park. You can take the juice box, but don't be surprised when security asks you to hand over the straws.

A letter from your Doctor is not needed and will not help as straws are pohibited by park policy. Security should not have a problem with you bringing in juice without a straw.

We visit SW weekly and always bring in "safe" food.

Oh just a thought-SW sells little baby sized bottle of juice. You can also buy them at Target and most markets. They are in a bottle with a cap so no straw needed. You could put a few of those in the bottom of your bag and not have to lug a big jug of juice around. Or you can just pour your juice into a soda bottle. (I do this since I don't drink Pepsi)

Not a fan of the tablets. I will just throw a container of juice in the stroller basket.
Thanks

If you also have kids no questions are likely except for the straw thing. I am alsy t1 IDDM and I HATE glucose tablets. When I am low I often also have a bit of nausea and glucose tabs just make that worse!!! And they have plenty of calories people are just less likly to "over" use them.

Thanks-we have a 2 and 5 year old so I guess I won't have to show my insulin pump lol. I bought 2 jugs of juicy juice that i will just throw in the stroller.

My tablets are only 15 calories per. But if you don't like them, you don't like them. They just work faster for me (and it's rare for me to have a low blood sugar but when I do...whoo ) than juices or pop or other candy.

Having a child with you does not exempt you from questions. I take a child every time I go and have still been questioned. As previously explained a quick word with the bag checked (That you are bringing in safe food) and you should have no problems.
