Taking down the Christmas overlays in January.

Do they start taking the IASW Christmas overlay down the week following New Years, and then the Haunted Mansion starting around the third week of January?

In my research, it seems like this is the case, but I was wondering if it's about the same every year, or does it vary somewhat?

In January of 2007, HM went down first, then IASW.

Hmmmmm, I just found the past schedules on Mouseplanet, and you're right. This last January, HM was closed first and then IASW. But, in January 2006 it was the other way around.

So I guess it does vary year to year.

They took HMH down early this year because it was scheduled for a longer refurb. They added the bride scene at the end and did other maintenance.

It seemed strange that they left IASW Holiday up for as long as they did last year. I don't think that is their normal practice.

I just read this rumor posted by a FL CM on another board. Thought it might interest you.

Normally IASW is down at the end of January-early February for about two weeks to take down the Christmas decorations. However, the CM rumor mill is telling me that we're not coming back up after this Christmas for about 9 months due to a major(ly needed) rehab. We'll be getting all new boats (which I'm excited about--maybe we won't have the typical daily flooded one!) and possibly a track instead of a flume to prevent bottom outs. I haven't heard any official details on it, but that's the current word on the street. I'm hoping they'll take the opportunity to fix the ceiling...

HM should be back up, though. IASW usually waits until they're back up from Christmas before going down (hence Christmas decorations until late January).
