Taking DH to the Surgeon Tonight

My DH has been driving me crazy lately. He's been going to sleep right after dinner, sleeping solidly until I go to bed and then is restless the remainder of the night while waking me up every hour or so to tell me to stop snoring... like I could stop breathing. Then, he's ready to get up between 3:30 and 4:30 to ride the stationary bike for an hour, take a shower and get to work. (He's a commercial lender, so he doesn't have to be at work by 6:00... he's just chosen to do so lately... and yes, he does have customers with whom he can conduct business so early in the morning.)

Anyway, I tell him that I think he's trying to kill me because I'm so tired all the time because I've been doing all of the activities with the kids at night and then not getting much sleep each night. You know, adult responsibilities and all...

So, on Sunday, he is in the bathroom. He says, "oh, no, it's all bloody again." I ask him what, and he says that there is all blood in the toilet. I go to check and it looks like he's been having a very heavy period.

I asked him how long this has been happening. He tells me 2 weeks. :scared1: WTH!?!

No, he doesn't want me to call the doctor because it'll probably to away. So, I don't call on Sunday, but I call on Monday. They are concerned that he may be anemic because of the blood loss and this could be what has altered his sleep pattern. They wanted him to have bloodwork done yesterday, but he was out of town with his boss on business, so he went today. They scheduled an appointment for tonight with a surgeon (I don't know why he wasn't referred to a gastrointerologist first) to check him out and to schedule a colonoscopy. Although he wants no part of the scope, he'll do whatever the doctors say.

So, please say a prayer for him that he is just annoying the daylights out of internal 'roids or fissures and that he doesn't have colon cancer. I am worried about this. He's only 40 and if it is with bleeding that means that it wasn't caught early. One of my friends is a doctor and she said that most exercise related bleeding is caused by intense abdominal workouts and the bike isn't giving him that. I'm trying to stay positive and whatever it is we'll deal with it however we need to. I know he's scared especially since a good friend of ours is just finishing her colon cancer treatments.

Sorry if anyone thinks I gave TMI. I can't talk to anyone at work and he doesn't want our friends to know what's going on yet. I just needed to "talk" to someone other than his mother who is a complete wreck.

Thanks for "listening."

:grouphug: Both of you are in my prayers. Please updated us when you can.

Good luck and I'm hoping for the best for your husband.

He is doing the best thing right now by getting into the doctor. Hopefully you'll know something soon! :grouphug:

RUDisney,

You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

They will probably send him for tests to find out what's going on.

Please tell him that a colonoscopy is not bad. I've had 3 already. They are a peice of cake. I was nervous at first but I would rather know the test results than not have the test at all.

Please keep us updated. I'm sending hugs your way. :grouphug:

Take a deep breath and face everything one step at a time, Sweetie!! :flower:

I am sure everything will work out well..... :sunny:

:grouphug: My prayers are with you and your DH. I just
know that everything will be fine. Let us know how everything
is.

A close family member who isn't 40 yet just went through a very similar situation, after all the tests and everything it turned out to be internal hemmeroids high in his rectum. I'll keep your DH in my thoughts, hope it turns out like my family members did.

Anne

Have been through that before. I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease at 20 years old. I have colonoscopies done every 5 years, along with the usual other tests every few years.

If you see blood, it is usually not too late. A colonoscopy is not that difficult to endure and will determine the problem. I remember going out to dinner the day of the scope, even though the behind was a tad bit sore.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

:grouphug: My thoughts and prayers are with you. Hopefully it will turn out to be something "minor".

Hoping things turn out well for your family.
