I want to start another Lilac and take Cuttings from it or is there a way to get seeds from the flowers once they bloom? Can someone tell me where to start? Thanks
:D

Good morning Helopoh, and Welcome to the F & G board. :) It's nice to see you back on the DIS again! :)

Ahh...lilacs....I can hardly wait to see them in bloom again and enjoy that wonderful fragrance. :)

Here's some info on growing them from cuttings, I hope it helps. :)

~Probably the best way to get a start of the plant for him is to simply give him a root sucker growth. That's how many of the professionals start their new plants. If you want to try cuttings, take them in July or August. Take the cuttings from new mature growth. The cutting should be only about six to ten inches long. Remove all the bottom leaves, dip the cutting in a rooting hormone like 'Rootone' and start them in sand or a combination of 50% sand and 50% peat moss. There is no need to start the cuttings indoors, simply place them directly into the garden. ~

Come back and tell us about your garden, okay? :)

Hi Helopoh - I can't add more to what Snowwark already told you but I just want to say HI! and also welcome you to the Flower and Garden Forum. I remember you from "The Wedding Pictures Thread" and some other postings. I hope you and your family are doing well.

Thanks for the info. We have talked about taking cuttings from this plant but I just have no time to look it up myself I almost took a cutting today and stuck it in some water to see if it would root so many other plants are easy to root like that. I knew this was the best place for the info. I hope to be on here more often in the coming weeks. Thanks for the warm welcome back. It has been rough here for some time now but I have started working and have almost no PC time and the fact that I work behind one all week long makes it less of an interest to come online.

I'm glad things are improving for you Helopoh. :) We look forward to you hanging out in the garden with us! :)
