As you probably know, we are off to DLRP for Christmas and DD wants us to take a few crackers for Christmas Day. I have a feeling that this is one of those things that you can't carry - either in hand or hold luggage - can anyone advise?

In 2007 there were a few news stories floating around that airlines had said they didn't want crackers on board. Essentially because if they went bang they might scare passengers, they said that was true for on-board and checked luggage. This may have changed but there may be variations between airlines anyway.

I'm absolutely sure that this is a no no. You can not do it on a plane or Eurostar as they are classed as containing gun powder and can effectively "explode". While it is deemed as a small amount, if there few many passengers with crackers on board and they went off, then untold damage could be done. HAving said that, rules are being relaxed but I would still check. Even though your airline may say yes, I know I read earlier in the year that BAA are not allowing them in their airports regardless of the carrier......but I can't find it!! What I can remember though is that some crackers have prohibited items in them (i.e scissors, tweezers etc) and therefor are not allowed in hand luggage.

I'm sure this question came up last year, and the suggestion was made to buy them when you get there from the supermarket :)

I've jsut had a quick look and the BAA website says they're a no-no.

I'd agree with the above - I'm sure you'd be able to pick some up at the supermarket :thumbsup2
