Taking CM Disney album to park for autographs, need help....

We're planning a Christmas visit but I like to get stuff in order. Has anyone else used the 7X7 album for autographs? How did you do it? Should I take the pages out, take the whole book, ask the characters to sign in certain areas? What type of pen do I need to bring? There are characters like Buzz/Woody who use a stamp; is that acid-free, will it be harmful in a scrapbook?

I would like one side to have an autograph and then the opposite side (in a 2 page spread) to be the character with my boys so I guess it doesn't matter if they are all left, all right, or both just trying to visualize this in my head. I ordered extra pages but our last trip we didn't get a lot of autographs, mostly the biggies and no princesses (3 boys who said "Ewwww" at the mention of princesses, lol).

Does this sound doable or would I be better off just taking scrapping paper to sign and adding the autographs after returning home?

I bought an autograph book that they sell at the park. I planned on taking a picture of my son with each character and then getting the autograph and reassembling everything into an album when I got home. It seems like the most important thing is speed. The characters need to get at the pages fast to sign them. You don't want to be fumbling around with pages and making sure they are signing in the right place. So I would take the pages out of the protectors so you have them handy when you spot a charachter. Good luck!

I use the autograph book they sell at the park - But while there, I have seen several people using the CM book - They usually have the character sign on one page and use the other page for pictures - There were no page protectors on -

Just so you know, the autograph books they sell at the park now have a place for the autograph, and right above the autograph, there is a place for you to put a picture (they even have a protective coating!)

We took our albums with us the last time we went -- no problem at all. In fact, I think that the kids got some more elaborate autographs because they had more rooom to sign. The only "bad" thing that can happen is if the character were to sign the book upside down, but . . . . not a big deal to me. You could cut that signature out if you had to and put it on another page. When we got home, I added pages in between the signature pages to put the pictures and decoarations (stickers, etc.) on. As for the pen, I used a zig writer, with the thicker tip for those characters who had bigger hands; those characters using "regular" hands liked the fine tip end of the pen. I don't know about the ink used on the stamped autographs, but I would think you'd be ok as long as you used page protectors.

We took our CM album several years ago (it was a 5x7 back then) and it worked out fine. I put 10-15 pages in it each day and kept it in a ziplock bag in our backpack along w/ a pack of page protectors. After a character signed it, I put a page protector on that page. At the end of the day I took out all the new autographs and put in blank pages for the next day. That way the album didn't get too big and hard to handle. My kids would ask the character we were meeting to please sign on one side, so we could put their pic on the other side. This worked most of the time, but a few got turned around. It was not a big problem.

I used a CM pen which was OK for most of the characters. A few had trouble because it was hard to hold. The stamps that Woody and Buzz do should be fine with a page protector.

On our last trip I cut out white CS in a 4x6 size and put them on a sm clip board for them to sign. This worked out very well.

I got up @ 6am one morning to complete the Disney Snap Pack. I DID separate the princesses & gave each princess her own page.

It worked great w/ all of the characters. We are missing a few characters & will complete in Oct. 04.

I kept the album in a plastic disney bag when not being used.

My dd who's 4 1/2 actually got a hold of the book & "ruined" a page while we were @ the Garden Grille. Pluto "saw" what she did & came to her rescue. He signed another page & admonished her NOT to color in Mommy's book.

In early June when we were @ Disney we were in line waiting for an autograph and noticed a mom w/a CM 7x7 album. She had the page decorated w/special stickers for the main characters and then blank pages toward the back for some not so well known characters. She would hand the book open to the page she wanted signed to the character and then snap a pic of her child to go on the other side. I thought this was really clever!! I
haven't decided what I'm going to do w/the autographs my girls got. I couldn't find an autograph book here so bought a generic book at Hallmark b-4 we left. That's another thing I don't understand........why doesn't Disney sell the autograph books and albums in their Disney Stores? How many times have a heard people say they wished they had bought an official Disney album and now they can't find one?! a ZILLION! Seems like another great way to generate more money for Disney. Being a travel agent I would much rather give my client an official Disney autograph book or photo album as a thank you gift instead of a generic one.

We used CM 5x7 albums last summer ... I had the characters sign the front and back of each page using a CM black round-tip pen.

Then when I got home I inserted blank pages between the autographed pages to put my photos on.

I carried a couple of large ziplock bags to put them in when we went on *wet* rides.

BTW - CM no longer sells the 5x7 albums.

Great ideas everyone. We are leaving on Monday morning and I just happen to have a Disney Snap Pack in my cabinet. Had never thought to use it as an autograph book.

I just bought the Disney CM album to use it as a Disney scrapbook for my grandson, even though our trip is not until may. lol I hadn't thought about collecting characters autograph in it too. I am going to have to rethink this now. How many characters do you think you might run into in a day without spending your day chasing characters?

I made a scrapbook with the CM 7x7 album for friends of mine that went in June. I put a picture of a character on each page, so the character had his or her own page. The characters loved the book. My friend had so many wonderful comments on the book. She used a CM pen and had no trouble with the pen bleeding through. I am currently working on two more books for my own sons for our trip in Dec. You can find clipart of the characters on the internet. Just print them out on acid free paper. Thats what I did. Have a great trip. I hope this helps.

Another thought would be to use the regular autograph book and scan the autographs to include in a scrapbook or photo album. That is what I will be doing for my most recent trip. DS and DD wanted to use a "real" WDW autograph book and won't let me cut them apart (don't really blame them!), so I will be scanning the autographs and including that on the appropriate pages........................P

I used three of them in June...one for each kid.......

I took extra pages with me, so each evening I would take out some of the pages. That way the books were not too big to carry.

I let the characters sign every page - front and back. When I got home I took the books apart and added a page between for the pictures. It is working and I didn't have three bulky books down there.
