Taking children out of school

Our kids are special needs children who work very hard at school and life. Heck our entire family works hard every day to try and make a great life for our kids. This vacation we are taking in May is a well deserved break for the 4of us. Why not go in the summer? Because May works out better for us. I do not need the school to give me their blessing to take them out. If the teachers choose not to give them make up work, oh well. Plain and simple.

OK, I'm going to go here for a minute....

I always find this response interesting. Someone obviously wanted to know what other people's opinions were or a thread would never get started! I agree that only you can decide what's right for your family, but just because someone else gives a different opinion doesn't mean they are JUDGING them. I always enjoy reading how other people do things, it doesn't mean I think less of them because it isn't MY way. My belief system says live and let live, but that doesn't mean I can't participate with an alternative view on a forum.

There was a time when people could have different belief systems and get along....nowadays if you have a different opinion, it's not PC/you're judging/being a troll/etc.

OK, back to regular programming...

I only said that because this is such a hot topic that I thought for sure someone was going to take this topic and runaway with it in the wrong direction. It really drives me nuts when people come here and try and vent and get some advice and it turns ugly. I am glad to see that this thread has not gone there ..... guess I was just jumping the gun a little and being defensive before the attack began. I meant no harm/ill will by my statement. Sorry if I offended anyone.

I guess you and I think alike actually...I don't like when threads get ugly either. That's why when I disagree I try to make sure and be pleasant about it and let it be known I'm not being judgemental.

No offense here, I just wanted to make sure it was understood I'm not one of THOSE people
