I know I shouldn't but I have booked for during term time......slap on the hand for me.

My 2 boys are 8 and nearly 11 and both in Primary school. This will be the last year we will be able to go during term time as the oldest transfers to Secondary school in Sept.Last year they both had 100% attendance

I sent a letter to the Headmistress yesterday asking to take the boys out of school for 4 days and today I got a phonecall from her.She said that would be fine and thanks for letting her know but she would like to have a meeting with me.......Oh no I thought I am going to get told off

She went on to say she would like to meet with me as she knows I have been to DLP a few times and she would like some advice/tips as she has booked to go at Easter :lmao:

Love it!

We've done the same for years but never had a response like that. I just tick the unauthorised box for them now, along with my request :rotfl:

:rotfl: I soooo thought you were gonna say the school said no to letting them have time off! :rotfl:

Ha ha thought you were in trouble then! It is way too tempting to take them out of school for the great prices and lack of crowds - we have to stick to school holiday now that they are in secondary .........but really enjoyed my trips off peak upto this!

I thought you were busted.:lmao:

That is wonderful news!! I am so glad the formal meeting turned out to be about her vacation:rotfl:

I always pull my kids from school. One year, I wrote they had a severe case of Disneyitis and would have to be out for a week. Another time, I wrote that we were partaking in a religious pilgramage. Heading south because we believe in Mickey Mouse. I will say, the disneyitis note all children were counted as excused absences. The religious pilgramage, two out of three were excused (although all the teachers laughed at the memos:)

Just wondered why it is more important not to take kids out of school in Secondary than Primary! Do they learn less? Is their learning less important?

The subject of taking kids out of school for holidays etc can get a bit heated. Lets avoid that and keep it friendly please :).

JMarley :rotfl: at your head teacher - each time I complete DD's absence form for DLP the office staff and head always say "ooh how lovely" and they were great at helping me keep it a secret on DD's surprise trip.

ha ha ha ha :rotfl2: I thought you were so busted!!!

I thought the same my heart was beating ten to the dozen thinking ...oh no I'm in trouble.Funny how you always resort back to being a school kid when faced with the Head ;)

Of course all their education is important but I feel that missing a few days of their primary education will not be too detrimental for them.Hopefully they will learn some more French while we are away.

I was in two minds whether to do this thread as I know this is an immotive subject but I felt it was much too funny to be kept to myself and I just had to share with you all.

Hilarious!! Thank you for sharing, made my day!!! :rotfl:

Oh my, that made me laugh Tracy - I shared it with the non-Disney believers in my office too! Brilliant!! :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

Nice one . This is what I love about this board... a thread about taking a child from school does not degenerate into a fight :goodvibes

I love that so much i have copy and paste it to a word doc to use - although not sure it will go down to well as had a letter back from the head saying they will basically chuck kids out if they take time off (go on then)!! as they are over subscribed!!!!

 brilliant!!! you would straight away assume the worst possible scenario! id say you nearly fainted with relief!!

had a similiar 'im in so much trouble' moment this year. dd (4) started school and after 3 weeks i was called in. she has a very active imagination so i thought heaven knows what she been saying/doing.... turns out she wasnt closing the door when going to the toilet and was asking to go wee wees instead of to the toilet... i fretted from the phone call on the tuesday until the meeting on the friday and i had a phew moment when the teacher explained!! :lmao:

i love the imaginative excusal notes!!!
