I will be taking my 2 kids to Egypt soon. Since DH is already there, do I need a letter from him stating that it is ok to take the kids out of the country?

If they are minors, I'm pretty sure that you do need a statement. I think it has to be notorized as well.

When we took my daughter's friend with us to Bermuda, the travel agent said we needed notarized permission from both parents allowing us to do so and she was 17 at the time. Also, a friend was getting married in Aruba and was taking her daughter with her who was about 15 and she need to have permission from her daughter's father.

Yes, you do need a notorized letter from your DH giving you permission to take the children out of the country. He s/b able to do that in Egypt and overnight it to you. Since he's already there I'd have him include his travel info and passport # in the letter in case anything needs to be verified. Have a great trip.

Yes.

You will need a notarized letter signed by him in addition to all the proper passports and documentation. Generally they require the specific dates that the child will be out of the country with you as well. The only time that this is not required is when both parents of the child are traveling with the child.

Good luck. . and have fun!

The dates? Hmm. We have one way tickets. We will be there for 10 months.
I will let him know to send me a letter.

With one way tickets I'd call the airline and check if the letter is all they need and in this situation what specially it should say. It sounds like you're going over to be with your DH while he's working there. The airline may need to check facts with his employer. I know it sounds like a lot of hassle but a parent taking children to a foreign country with no definite plans of returning is a huge red flag.

I would would call the airline and check because in my experience I have never needed a letter, DD and I have probably taken 6 trips to and from Germany with out DH and never needed a letter.
