I don't see my doctor until Dec 12 and I have some major nose conjestion{?}. It has come to the point where it is effecting my sleep and eating.

I have been using Vicks Vaporub and plain saline nose spray, but these things are not working what so ever.

Anyone have any other ideas what I can do to break this stuff up?

TIA!!!

If I remember corectly Sudafed was OK. I'd at least call your Dr. and ask. I was sick when pregnant and it sucks - esp. the 1st trimester. There's not too much you can do. Def. call your doctor.

Call the doctors office and ask them what you can take. I'm going back a few years, but during allergy season I could take a decongestant, but not an antihistimine. You really have to watch what it is the medicine.

That's what I could take..the plain old regular Sudafed..little red pill.

I was able to do Flonase, I was really sick about halfway through my first. Flonase is Rx, so you need to see your Dr.

Hope you feel better!

You can also ask your pharmacist..they know a lot about drugs, since it's their job. :)

We love our pharmacist, she is really good at helping us find exactly what we need for whatever it is we happen to have. :)

Thanks everyone for the replys!!

I'm going to call my pharmacist tomorrow since my doctor will be out of the office till Monday.

Thanks again!!!

I was able to take plain Sudafed but it didnt help much. Sleep with your head elevated if you can - that seemed to help too.

Oh and I totally agree with TOV - I always ask the Pharmacist about medicines. This is their specialty! The Pharmacists at our drug store are great and never mind answering my "dumb questions". :)

:grouphug: Feel better soon!

I'm so sorry for you. I had the flu during my 9th month of pregnancy (with dd, who is now 9) and I was on complete bed rest at the time (23 hours/day lying on my left side). Talk about miserable! I wasn't allowed to take anything because of my high blood pressure and most decongestants tend to elevate it.

Hope you feel better.

Have you been using a vaporizer at night when you sleep? I find that really helps my family. We use a warm water one with vicks vaporub, and the moisture and the vicks really help by morning time.

Good luck!

I always used a vaporizer as well and it worked great. They say that congestion is a pretty common thing in early pregnancy--I believe it, since that was usually one of the first tip-offs to me that I was pregnant.

You can take sudafed and some form of robotussin. I don't remember which robotussin, you'll have to ask the pharmacist. I hope you feel better soon.

Just wanted to update....

I called my pharmacist and she said it would be better if I called my doctor's office since alot of doctors have different things they prefer.

My OB is in a group practice so I took a chance that hopefully some of the doctor's would be in since my doctor is out til Monday. When I called I talked to a nurse who said I didn't have to talk to a doctor for the question I had, that she could go ahead and help me.

Anyways, the nurse told me that I couldn't use anything. If it went to my chest then I could use Robotussin DM, ONLY if it went to my chest. Other then that, what I was doing now with the VapoRub and the saline nose spray is about all I can do.

The pharmacist and the nurse both said that to many OTC drugs have meds in them that cut off the blood flow to the uterus. :earseek: But the nurse did say it if it got to bad and they weren't in go to the hospital, labor & delivery, and they would do something for me. As of right now as long as it doesn't go to my chest I will be fine. I started the vaporizer up and during the day gargle with salt water to break the stuff up that is doing down my throat.

Thanks again to everyone!!
