Hi!
We are planning our first Disney vacation with our 3 and 5.5 year old sons. We are staying at the new Nick Hotel but was wondering if it is possible to go to the park early, come back to the hotel to rest for a few hours, and then go back in the late afternoon. We do not have park hopper tickets.

If so, what are the procedures in doing so.

TIA!

Hi!

I think it would be a hassle to bring the kids back to an off site hotel & then find parking again to come back. If you were staying on site I'd say no worries, but it seems like more work to leave & come back when you stay off property. :goodvibes

Thanks, but there's just no way my kids could be able to stay there all day without getting extremely tired and grumpy.

How does this work? Do they stamp your hand or something?

Actually, from someone who has done it, it was not a problem. You only pay to park once per day, you can come back to the same park on the day of use for a non-park hoping ticket, and sometimes if you disregard the parking lot attendees you can grab a parking spot right up front when you return. It is a great thing to do to recharge the batteries. Go for it.

yes they stamp your hand....keep your ticket though, it is still required. Thanks.

Great! I think we'll definitely enjoy that..

Is the big parade and fireworks at MK? We want to get back for that, for sure.

I think the break is a good idea, especially given the ages of your children. We have always done this, but always stayed on property. You probably need to allow 4 hours for the break -especially if you are touring MK (accees issues). It just tales time to get out of the park, back to your resort, nap/swim, and return to the park. Hopefully you will be going at a time when park hours are not on the short side. If you are working against a 7pm MK closing time I think it may be hard to carve four hours out of the day.

I hope you will let us hear about the Nick hotel. My kids eyes light up every time they see the commercial for it.

Spectromagic and Wishes are at MK, make sure Spectro is scheduled for the day you plan to attend :wizard:

We're surprising the kids by staying there..I'm sure they will LOVE it and I'll be sure to post my reviews. WE're leaving 5 weeks from TODAY!!!

Thanks for the info, weluvpluto.

It is a great idea to take naps and re-charge! Your hotel should have a shuttle, so it's not that big of a deal staying off site. Even if you do not have a park hopper ticket, you can re-enter the same park with a hand stamp and your ticket.
That Nic hotel looks really cute! I'd love to hear how you like it.

Have a great trip!

We take afternoon breaks, too - and we're empty-nesters! We feel that Disney is so much of "everything" that a break really recharges us for the evening - I'd imagine both you and your children will benefit.

One comment: although you'll be going at a time with longer hours, the PM break is much harder for off-site folks during the 'slow' season - there's just not as much time. It can easily be an hour from the moment you're in the MK and decide to leave to the moment you're actually in your room, and vice versa. Assuming only a two-hour break (which to me seems a bit short), if you left the MK at 1PM, you wouldn't be back until 5 - if the park closes at 6, you've got a hour. Not that I'm shilling for Walt (and I know budgets are a big concern), but that's one of the benefits of on-site stay; you can trim an hour or more from your travel time....

Be well!

PS to Cushes: DW and I will be there the same time; if a short, balding man with a blonde wife walks up and says "Hello!", run the other way - I'm 6'4", bearded and my DW is a redhead! :rotfl2:

Another point of view!!!! We have gone with one DD when she was 2 then again when she was 5 and our other DD was 2. Both times we thought we would go back to the hotel (onsite) but did not on most of the days. When it was just the one daughter it was great she slept in her stroller and that's when we had our down time, ate lunch or went shopping. It was very relaxed and casual.

On the second time our little one did the same thing, slept in the stroller. Our older one didn't need to nap persay anymore but would fall asleep on the bus in between parks if we were hoping. We did make sure we had some down time during the day out of the sun etc... but I tell ya we pounded the pavement with both kids from morning till night mostly and rarely went back to our hotel. We all had a great time and surprisingly not very cranky kids. You'll be amazed how they are energized by Disney.

We all went to bed as soon as we got back to the hotel though. We made some nights earlier than others so we could get some sleep.

Have a BLAST!!!!!!!!!!!

That is a good point..Our fear is that they will want to stay at the hotel pool the whole time.
We've never been before so we aren't sure what to expect. Our kids don't have a clue what they're in for.. :goodvibes

back when it was the kid's suites. It was only a 5 minute drive from any of the parks there at Disney. I felt almost like staying on site because it was so close. I would say you could easily take a break during the day.
