Taking beer off the ship at Castaway Cay

Technically, no. Beer (or wine/champagne) you bring onboard is expected to be consumed in the privacy of your stateroom, not in any public areas (which would include Castaway Cay). DCL sells beer packages specifically for CC day -- I think I've seen one that comes with a soft-side cooler bag and I think I remember a bucket of beers available on our first cruise.

Enjoy your cruise!

Planning on bring a six pack of beer on the ship and was wondering if it's Ok to take off the ship and consume, while on Castaway Cay?
It should be. I don't know how they would stop you or know that you were taking it off the ship. However, I sure hope you are bringing cans and not glass bottles. I suspect lots of guest take beer onto CC.

Disney's response is that it is not allowed so technically, its not okay. Is it done, yes.

In numerous visits to CC there is no point that they would even be aware you had beer in your tote when getting off the ship there. However, if you didn't drink it all while on the island they would catch it if you tried to bring it back on board.

Well, and that probably wouldn't be an issue, as you can take onboard up to 6 beers for each person 21 and over in ports, as well as on embarkation day.

Now, if only one over 21 person was carrying back onboard over 6 beers, the extras would be pulled.

this is somewhat related, can the 6 beers that we can bring onboard be in glass bottles? or are only cans allowed. (at embarkation, not CC) DH's special French beer only comes in bottles and it's been rattling around in my head that if he wants any on the ship we'll need to bring it onboard and I needed to confirm we could.

There's no specification as to whether it has to be in cans or not. I'd say either way. BUT, glass bottles are not allowed in the pool areas/Castaway Cay. But, of course, you're not supposed to bring the stuff you bring onboard to the pools/Castaway Cay.

my beach bag is so full and heavy I'd rather not lug beer to the beach. I find the 6 or more that you can bring on at embarkation or ports paired with the beer mug makes cruise beer drinking pretty affordable

What if I bought the beer in Nassau?
The thing is, it isn't allowed and TheDis looks down upon advising people how to get around and the breaking of rules. The simple answer is you're not supposed to drink the beer you bring on board anywhere but your stateroom. Is it done, yes.

Dang right it is done. I bring alcohol on board also. Nobody has said or would dare tell me where I can drink the beer on the ship. Last cruise I brought a six pack and a bottle of vodka. Between my wife that was more than needed on the 5 day cruise. I did buy a couple drinks but I typically avoid high sugar low alcohol content overpriced drinks.

Obviously rules don't apply to you.

How long ago was the cruise...? Nowadays if they find the vodka they will confiscate it when you board the ship with it. If they don't find it and it isn't obvious you are drinking vodka then it isn't a question of if they dare but if they know... on the boards we do not advocate going against 'The Mouse' whether or not its a stupid rule. Only DCL can say if it applies to you or not (I would put my money on yes, yes it does unless they happen to miss it).

Two years ago. We are going again in June. They had just started the rule. We packed the bottle tightly in our suitcase. You are right, had they known it would of been confiscated. Our drink of choice is vodka, water lime. So drinking that by the pool or around the ship at adult areas looks like water. The beer cans was a beer that they do not serve. I drank those straight out of can and in the wide open at pool. Nobody would ever say anything. We are not big drinkers. Just don't like sugary drinks with weak pours.
