What is the youngest age you would take a newborn baby?

My situation is my Dad is planning a Disney vacation for the children and grandchildren. We are scheduled to go in Dec this year. While I'm thrilled with the thought. I am now 12 weeks preg. with our third child and this vacation my husband can not go. Which means I am a "single mom" with two young boys(8yr and 5yr) in Disney. Yes, I will have my parents, siblings, and very young nephews there too.
While I have this entire planning been not totally overjoyed(because husband can't go) , now with all of the war events going on I am just dreading it.

My dad has gotten some slack(over war) with going ahead with this vacation. And I would love to tell him to just postpone until Spring. BUT my due date is early May.....
if we were to postpone how young would you take an infant?

Also, if we delayed the vacation my boys wouldn't know the difference. They won't be told about the trip until Thanksgiving.

Thanks for your input.

My DW is 7-months pregnant. If she wasn't so far along, we would make a trip down to WDW now. Cheap fares, low crowds, etc.

What kind of slack has your dad gotten?
What are you dreading?

Go on vacation as planned. But If you don't go now, take the baby with you. You can never be too young (or old) for WDW! :D

My daughter was just about 8 weeks when we took her for her first trip to WDW. We had a blast. Of course, the trip was more for us, than her, but we all had a great time. We will be there in just 9 more days and this time we'll have a 5 yo, 2yo and 3 month old. If taking an infant was a hassle, I wouldn't have planned another trip with our newest addition. (It's the older ones who give me more trouble anyway! LOL)

My 11yo was born in Fl on our wdw vacation. (his due date was miscalculated) he was in WDW at a few days old.

I think your Dad planning a trip for everyone is wonderful, even with a war going on. What better time to celebrate family?

I guess I was really feeling like I would be crazy to suggest going in the Spring with a 1 month old baby or even waiting until fall when the baby would be a few months old.
I guess my biggest "dread" of going now is because my husband can not go. This will be our sons first trip to WDW and I really want him to be there......(no it is not possible-he'll be fired if he goes on vacation that time of year!--and yes he has asked several times)

But since PopPop is paying the main bill, we will go and have a good time!

I'm really not sure what slack my Dad has taken about still planning to go. My sister told me yesterday that a lot of his friends have had a problem with it.

Thanks for your support in going now or waiting until after the baby :)

For you, i would think going in dec would be the best time prior to the summer. the longer into your pregnancy you go the more miserable you will be and it sounds like if you go the first few months of your babys arrival you will be worried as well. how about sending the kids with grandpa and staying home? my neighbor actually sent her kids within days of her babys arrival and it was wonderful for her not to have to worry about them around the house with the brand spanking newborn.

We took my son when he was 4 months old in Aug. Since your baby is due in May, I would recommend waiting until he was at least 3 months old since you would be going during the hottest time of the year. As you know, newborns have a hard time regulating their temperature and the heat would probably be too hard on a newborn, IMHO. If you feel that you can be up for it, I'd go in Dec. You'll have plenty of help and your children will have fun with all their cousins there as well. If you delay, taking a newborn to DW is a different experience. You have to go back to your room often for naps, the newborn often wakes up at night, not a fun vacation for two boys!!

We took our DS when he was 7 weeks old (he's now 7 months old) and it was the best trip we had ever taken. Somehow being able to show him off to the characters meant so much.... we went to the Garden Grill and Chip held him for a long time and "tsk tsk"ed him and our DS just stared at him and smiled!! It was so sweet.

It was Mother's Day weekend (a special weekend for me, my first!!), and the weather was nice, but we were careful to make sure he didn't get overheated, etc.

Go for it!! You won't regret it.

While I'm still disappointed my husband won't be with us, it doesn't sound like my Dad wants to change plans. We will be going the week before Christmas(which makes me crazy because my Dad doesn't like crowds!) But my parents will be telling the boys on Thanksgiving and I am looking forward to getting in on their excitement.
I guess now I need to start a new thread about what rides a preg. lady can get on!:smooth:
Any ideas?

p.s. Thanks for the input about the heat----it had only breifly crossed my mind, but would be a major worry for me.
And the idea of sending the boys "sounds" good, but I wouldn't want to miss their first WDW experience!!!!!!!!

When I was that far along I was sooooo sick I could have never gone, but it sounds like you are fine so far. May is way too hot for a baby!!!! Or anybody for that matter!! Haha!! Just go and enjoy yourself with the attitude that "we don't have to do it all now". You 'll be back when you are ready to all go as a family....
