We have owned DVC for 24 years. As much as we all love the parks, the most memorable trip was our Disney Cruise when the kids were about 6. They still talk about it. Now that they are adults, I am trying to convince them to go again! Any suggestions on which ship or itinerary is best for those of us who are bringing adult kids?

I think any of them are great! The best way to start planning is to see how long everyone can get away for and hone in a date commitment. I’m partial to longer cruises and 5+ days in my minimum because it takes almost two days to get into the groove of getting around the ship and checking out all the areas you want to spend more time at. If you can only do a shorter cruise then the Wish is your best bet. We love the dream and the fantasy along with the classic ships, we haven’t sailed the wish yet. Any day on a Disney cruise with family is a great day, long or short cruise. Happy planning

We've been on all five DCL ships. I'd lean toward the Dream/Fantasy ships depending on how long you wanted to cruise. The Dream class ships have some very nice options for adult dining, less "show" in the main dining rooms than the new Wish, and a couple of nice lounges.

I agree! As a couple of adults who now either sail alone or with our adult kids we have grown quite fond of the Dream/Fantasy for the adult areas.

I have not yet sailed on the Wish so I can't fairly comment on that but I would not think it is the best choice for adults based just on what I've seen/heard in reviews and deck plans. I will be able to give a more fair comment on that in about 6 weeks. ;)

The year after our DD married she asked about a family cruise to Alaska. DD, DSIL, DS and us. It was great. DS just got married a year ago and we are in discussion. Some of us want to do Alaska again. DD (who now has 2 kiddos) is lobbying for Caribbean. We'll see.

Im 23 and have been cruising since I’ve been 14. Im partial to the Fantasy as I’ve sailed it 7 times. Longer cruises are the best way to go. The fantasy’s bar area is cool as you can hop from one to another. The adult pool area is also great on the Fantasy. Just went on a 7 nighter in June and it was a blast. We have a 10 night planned for July and cannot wait for that.

Even as grown ups, the things they loved as kids may appeal to them - the dining, Castaway Cay, the shows or just being in a Disney cruise.

I like to pick my cruise based on 1. itinerary, 2. date, and 3. price. I am partial to the Magic and the Wonder, but people have their own preferences.

Reminiscing about their childhood memories could be a good jumping off point for planning an adult trip - whether they want to repeat the earlier experience to see it as adults or try something totally new. And you get the fun of rehashing happy memories.

We cruise with our young adult children-early 20's. The Alaska cruise has been their favorite so far.

We have taken our adult kids on the fantasy and the magic. We all were disappointed in the adult areas on the magic and the lack of activities such as mini golf.

I would also find out if there are specific activities your adult children enjoy. My adult son still loves mini golf, for example, and was thus disappointed on the Wish. (It didn’t help that Uncharted Adventures was non-functional during our cruise, either, which is what he was looking forward to. So no mini golf just added to his sadness). We had a great time but he said he liked the Dream/Fantasy better.

I feel you! Prefer longer cruises but the kids have a harder time getting more than 4-5 days off. I ll look at those two ships. Thank you.

I hadn't thought of tailoring it that way. Thank you.

This is encouraging to hear! I'll send the Fantasy itineraries and info to them and see if we can make this happen. :-)
