Abby has been coughing since March 1st. She is up a couple times a night coughing. She has been on cough medicine for 2.5 weeks! The last week she has been getting worse, the cough going from dry, hacking at night to wet all night and day. She has had some fevers the last couple of days.

She just seems to be getting worse and worse... I can't see how I can keep medicating her much longer... two and a half weeks is a long time on that medicine. Currently she is on the strongest OTC medicine there is, and still coughs all night. Last night I had to hit her back quite a few times to clear her out... sounded like she was drowning! :eek:

Just too much for a little two year old... and we both need a good night's sleep!

There has been a case of walking pneumonia at her sister's school... she does fit the symptoms to a tee. :(

I will update tomorrow after the doctor's visit.

Karen, I am so sorry to hear that Abby is so sick :( I do hope that the doctors will be able to help her get well soon {{{hugs}}}

So sorry she's sick. My youngest is asthmatic and we've been through many respiratory problems.

Please if there is any indication of rapid breaths or she is retracting (her stomach sinks when she breaths) take her to the ER.

Sending lots of pixie dust.

Sending pixie dust and {{{HUGS}}} for Abby. Please let us know how she makes out.

I am so sorry that uour precious baby isn't feeling well. Sending PD to you both.

I don't think I'd wait until tomorrow...either insist they see her in "urgent care" or "after hours care" or whatever your ped. office calls it or bring her to the ER. They can diagnose these things too, especially if you know it will be another miserable night for her....night time is always worse than the daytime. I'm surprised your dr didn't want to see her sooner??

I hope she's feeling much better soon, poor baby...

P & PD for you. Try not to worry--my youngest had pneumonia when he was 14 months old. It was his 4th ear infection in 7 months and he couldn't seem to shake it, and finally they figured that out...he was on a nebulizer for a few days (which he HATED and we practically had to sit on him to give it to him) and it cleared right up. Luckily that finally convinced his ENT that he DID need tubes. Your little one will be fine. Make sure you keep us updated.
