Taking a toddler to Teppanyaki?

We'd like to eat at Teppanyaki on our next trip. Our children will be 9, 7, and 18mos. at the time. I'm familiar with the seating arrangement at our local restaurant similar to Teppanyaki, and am curious how a high chair works here.

Have any of you ever taken a child who was still using a high chair to Teppanyaki, and how was he/she accomodated?

Umm, I can't believe that you would consider taking an 18 month old to Teppanyaki. What if a stray piece of steak pops up and hits her in the face?

TNmomof3.... Not certain of what you are asking. Are you think you'll be seated on the floor or in chairs? I'm not certain of what their seating is but if it is typical, they would have both types of seating and sit those with small kids with the chairs.

Using a high chair with an 1.5 yr. old is definitely the way to go at this restaurant. The grill surface is within arm's reach of anyone sitting around the table. My children were 2.5 and 4.5 when we ate there and fortunately, they listened to the warning not to touch! Though I personally don't recall seeing any children in high chairs, I can't imagine a restaurant in WDW catering to families NOT having them.

TNMom - One quick warning for you... I've seen several infants and toddlers at Teppanyaki, and with all of the knives flying, clanking, etc. and the big flames, some of them take it in stride but others are scared out of their wits. One baby (~ 1 year) wigged out so much from the smiley-face-fire, she screamed herself into total hysteria. (Not helped much by her clueless parents, who laughed at how scared she got. ) Depending on how "sturdy" your 18MO is, you might want to have him/her on your lap until the food is served.

Sha-lyn, What I mean about the tables and seating is...if you are at the tables, there is a small serving space, and then the preparation grill. I'm wondering if they just pull a high chair up to the side, or if it works to pull it into the regular seating area. I'm just having a hard time picturing where they'd put it. Since we are eating with other people...I want to make sure that this wouldn't be a bother. Thanks!

MulanMom, thanks for your reply. I think you are right that they probably offer high chairs since it is WDW. I'm sure it will be fine. We are really looking forward to this meal. I think the big kids will think it is a lot of fun.

It's been so long since we ate a an older restaurant. At the one near us the seating area around the grill is so wide that I have to stand up to reach the tea pot (they put it in the corner of the grill to keep it hot).
Now that I'm thinking back, the old we use to go to always set the kids in highchairs at the corner. DD usually still sit in a highchair because of her height, but at 5 1/2 she like to be right in front of the action. Of couce she's been going since she was tiny so she is use to the action.

We have taken our daughter there when she was a todler, she loved it, and did not get it by any flying objects
What they did, is put her on the corner of the table (counter) in a high chair, so that there was no way that she could touch the grill, it worked out very well.

Actually this is what they did when we went to the Japanese steakhouse (you know, the one on the corner of Harding Road right after you exit 24--for the life of me I can't think of the name right now) when we went w/ friends over Christmas. Julia loved it, and none of the flying meat hit her either .
