Taking a toddler to Jiko

I want to thank you all again. You have all been a great help.

I love the ideas of bringing special toys for the restaurants. I think I will do that for all of our restaurants.

Kathymcbain-I love the photo album idea!! Thank you!

I'll order his food as soon as we sit down and his dessert with our entrees. Thanks a great idea. Thank you all for suggesting that.

Pooh&Ourhoney- thanks for the advice. I called in room dining as soon as I read your post. It is 2 TS points but you have to pay the extra surcharge. So I asked if I could just go down to Jiko and order and pick it up myself. They said yes. So I'm going to take your advice. If he is tired and cranky, we'll order and take it to our room! Thanks.

Do you know what the surcharge would be. I understand each meal will take 2 TS meals, but what about the surcharge on the dining plan with Jiko? I wonder how war the food is with room service or taking as carryout..

We are going with our baby as well in October. She'll be 8 months.

Jiko is a nice and quiet restaurant... I'm not sure I would take a toddler or infant there...

Since it is your anniversary, I would either:

1) Look into the baby sitting services. Kids Nite Out is well regarded. You'll spend about $74 for 4 hours, so its a bit pricy.

2) Some signature Restaurants seem to be a bit better suited for young kids... For example, California Grill and Artist Point are a lot noisier than Jiko. Maybe look at those instead. I posted a similar question and Flying Fish was deemed ok as well... Narcoosees, Citricos, Jiko are all a little quieter and more romantic.

Disclaimer: I understand I will get varied opinions on this topic because some of you do not have kids or feel that little ones should not be at signature restaurants.

However, this question is for those of you who took your toddler/baby to Jiko..How did it go?

I've been before but without our DS. I don't remember much because I had a terrible migraine. We sat at the prep area seating because we did not have reservations so I didn't even face the restaurant. We left pretty fast with my food in a to go box. I was so sick.

My point is I have no clue if it's ok to take DS. We don't have anyone to watch him and it's our anniversary so he will be going no matter what. I just want to know if we'll feel out of place. Will there be other children? What were your experiences?

I appreciate any opinions or advice...positive or negative. Thanks!!

We eat at Jiko every trip. We just ate there last week with our kids who are 9, 7, & 2. They were all fine and there were lots of other kids there also. They do provide a kids' menu with mazes and puzzles, but my toddler doesn't find that entertaining for very long. I brought a small magnet game, a small coloring book w/crayons, and some Cheerios and he was good to go.

No worries Brandi there are 3 of us eating at the same time with our little ones. Its going to be a wonderful meal. The menu sounds so yummy!popcorn::
