Taking a nap at Disneyland Resort

And there you go, another crazy THING about discussion boards--there will always be someone who thinks they are a 'thing'.

Sorry if you were offended, and personalized my comment regarding 'things' to mean you (whom I presume is a person, not a thing).

Enjoy your nap!!

Cathy
I'm confused now lol.
I thought you were saying it was crazy that people always get defensive when people disagree with their views after they've asked for opinions. (Btw, which is not what I did. If I were doing that then I'd have gotten into a lot more arguments.)

Aren't you implying that what I'm doing is crazy?
I guess not?

Enjoy your day!!

We usually go to WDW, but I have been to DL 3-4 times in the last couple of years.

I am not a fan of the nappers, but for the most part, I probably rush right by them. If I was looking for a bench seat, I might be annoyed though. I confess to a unplanned power nap in the American Adventure at Epcot.......

Not quite the "nappers", but I was amazed by the "squatters" who lay blankets on the ground in front of the castle on the ground, saving a spot for the fireworks I guess. It looks awful to me, sorry, and I have never seen this behavior in the MK. Might be too hot at WDW, I do not know. It becomes annoying trying to walk around these beach towels and blankets, and many are unoccupied, just saving a spot for the evening. This was likely seen in October and September, hard for me to remember.

Wow..pretty amazing that a simple sort of light opinion thread turns so argumentative. I don't think anyone really cares about the occasional snoozer (and people, please don't say you could care less about something..that means you COULD care less..if you don't care, then you mean you COULDN'T care less..sorry..pet peeve). Anyway, I will restate that it doesn't bother me unless people are hogging up the whole bench instead of just taking up their alloted one butt square. Disney needs more stoping/sitting places, and if something is in short supply then it is just courteous to not take up alot of a short supply thing.

No one ever would comment on a child sleeping in the parks I don't think. It does seem different to see an adult sleeping there, but I don't think it would bother me.

What does concern me is that if someone wakes up early to drive in, has a full day in the parks, and maybe only caught a very tiny cat nap, that when driving back late at night they would assume they were going to drive safely on the freeways to get back home.

I like the idea of a car nap for those who drive in and know that they need a nap. A short nap on a bench somewhere may not be enough, but in the relative privacy of your own vehicle, you would likely have a much better nap, and feel so much more refreshed as you could take as long of a nap as needed. It would be worth it to take the extra time and effort to get there and back from the car, if it could mean not falling asleep at the wheel later.

This is what I was going to point out. I was amazed at the number of king sized quilts all over the sidewalks on Main Street! It was particularily bad before the holiday parade. We went to the holiday tour and people were already clogging MS three hours before parade time. We (as a group) couldn't get through to the hub.

I can't imagine why Disney allows this.

I don't think this thread is argumentative at all. I think everyone (including the OP) has been very respectful. It has been an interesting thread! Thanks to the OP for including it.

And I do agree with you--one butt square per person!:rotfl:

Truth be told, I do have a pet peeve--and that is the invasion of the space savers. I know why people do it, but it takes up so much valuable sitting spots. Sometimes it is hours before fireworks and you just want to sit on a bench, but everyone has their grandma and her blankets (with a strategically placed stroller or two) holding entire benches (often more than one). But this is one pet peeve that I can do nothing about.

On DS's first trip, he was 3 and still in the napping stage...we were SO thankful that he actually fell asleep in his stroller during the daytime! :worship:

I found that THE best place to "sit" with him while he was napping was along the walkway that connects Frontierland with Fantasyland. Several benches, shaded (even in mid August), quiet and luckily not as many folks know about or used this walkway.

DH rested on the bench while DS was asleep in his stroller and I got to do a little shopping. Worked out well for everyone. I encourage you to find this walkway....you won't be disappointed! :thumbsup2

oops Zombie thread. Sorry guys!

Napping is great, I just wouldn't lay down on a bench. There have been many times I have been to the Tiki Room and heard the first bird start talking and then the next thing I know my kids are telling me it is time to go. Aladdin was a great nap, even if I didn't want to nap. Small World is good for 10 minutes. Depending on the time of day, Pirates can be good for 5 minutes. Lincoln is amazing. No matter how much I want to watch all of it, it is good for at least a 5 minute nap. It is amazing how much more enjoyable Disneyland becomes late in the day after a 5 minute power nap. Captain EO was even a short nap for me if it was in the afternoon. The bouncing up and down was like a massage if I was tired enough.

Yes it is....

As far as a place to nap... Right now while the train is not running, you might be able to get a full bench in one of the train cars.
The stations are staffed, the CMs will come by and tell you to get up. They do the same thing at the stations when the train is running.
