Taking a nap at Disneyland Resort

I have never seen anyone napping (besides kids in strollers) at DL, I would never do it, too much excitement and things to do, I wouldn't want to waste time sleeping :rotfl:

Great to hear that a lot of people don't have a problem with it!

And for those that are saying "go back to your hotel room" ...if I had one I'd go there (of course!), but sometimes I go to Disneyland just for 1 day (very rarely) waking up at 7am and staying until 12am (arriving home a little after 1am) and I just have to find a place to rest my eyes and body somewhere in the middle or else it's very dangerous for me (for everyone!) to sleep-drive on the way back.

If someone had a hotel room and just decided to sleep in the park... I would find that a little weird too!

You are correct. It is dangerous enough on the LA freeways without people trying to sleep and drive at the same time.

Heck we took power naps on the ground in front of ROA while waiting for F! and my son whos 6 slept thought the whole show. I say its your vacation and you are free to do as you wish.

A little bit different where you stake out a spot for F and waiting for the show inside a roped off area then taking up the very occasional bench for a nap. And you are correct it is their vacation.

I guess I'm in the minority but I don't appreciate it when we come across an adult napping at DL and I do think it's rude. Especially in the Animation Studio. Seems like a total lack of self awareness to me :confused3

Before our room was ready at VGC my DH and I went out by the pool. The lounges out there are nice and comfy and he got a nice nap in. :)

Great place to nap and relax. But many times you can not find a lounge chair if your life depended on it.

I was in a party of 8 and we ALL fall asleep inside the Tiki Room. A cast member kindly woke us up after the show. :rolleyes1

I have no problem with people falling asleep there, one less person for me to have deal with. :goodvibes

I should let my husband know what a faux pas this is, poor man nods off every time I make a bathroom break.

In my opinion, there is a HUGE difference between accidentally nodding off for a few moments on a bench while waiting for your party and just sprawling out on a bench with the intention of sleeping for 20 minutes.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the former. I think I'm on the fence about the latter. The thing that keeps me from being against it is that I, like some previous posters, usually go up for one-day trips and tend to arrive early and stay quite late. While I haven't slept, a friend that was visiting from out-of-state did fall asleep on the ground while waiting for the 11:15 showing of WOC and I certainly didn't think she was weird or rude, as there were tons of heavy eyes that night waiting for that final showing.

Really? That is very weird! It is like you were all gassed. (not that kind of gas). That is like an episode of Gilligan's Island.

the benches in the Tiki Room aren't even that comfortable, and the show is pretty loud.

I do not think anyone has a problem with the ROA/F issue or a couple minute snooze, it is those extended naps that we disagree with. For day trippers there always is the car they came in, I would think that would be much safer and less imposing.

I save my napping for Monsters, Inc.

I think I would go out to my car and take a nap, those benches can't be too comfortable. I also think what makes me uncomfortable with it is it reminds me of homeless people sleeping on benches, I do not want to see that at DL.

Taking a nap in the car is actually a great idea! (Wonder why I haven't thought of it, lol), but I think psychologically.. once someone enters their car to take a rest... they typically begin to think (for example) "ugh, lets just go home, forget about WoC, we'll catch it next time" and they end up regretting about it the next day. Also, (although maybe to some it might be insignificant) it's quite a walk and time-consuming to go back-and-forth, ride the trams, walk to car, walk to tram, ride tram again, walk back in, etc. They're already very tired when they come to the point of wanting to take a nap at Disneyland :p

I did not want to say it but that is always my first thought when I see this happening. I see enough of that.

Jack

Well I doubt a homeless person would be able to afford a Disneyland park ticket, lol!

You would be surprized how much $$$ some homeless people carry on them. I am sure it is not the issue but that is what my mind see's when I see this.

Unless it is the Animation building or the GCH lobby I only see 1 individual sleeping on bench, not families. I agree with all your logic and trust me I get just as tired as the next person(and I am older than 99.9% of the people who post here) and I would like to sit down and there are no benches available. We do our trips mid-August and the parks are pretty crowded, so..............
