Taking a mobility scooter onboard

Is there a place to store it while on the ship if we don't have a handicapped room? My husband just bought me one for my mobility issues and we already had our cabin booked.

Per DCL website, “Due to safety regulations, wheelchairs, scooters, strollers and other personal belongings may not be stored in public passageways and must be stored inside staterooms or a designated public storage area.”

So, not left in the narrow hallway outside your cabin.

(I have a vague memory of seeing them in some elevator /stairwell bays. Reality?)

More, following, from those with personal experience. >>

There are designated areas on each ship. I think on the Magic and Wonder it is deck 6, and on the Dream and Fantasy that is deck 2. I don't know about the Wish.

ETA: depending on the brand/model of device you have, it may fit. Standard DCL staterooms doors are 23" wide. Some of the more compact/portable personal ECVs will fit. Most rentals will not.

I believe they have designated areas for these to be parked, away from high-traffic areas. Elevator bays might be a possibility, if they are 'tucked away' and still leave room for people to maneuver.

I think OP would want to contact DCL directly about this to ensure they're following all DCL guidelines on bringing mobility scooters on board (and also where to park them).

Thank you everyone :) for a fast answer I figured I'd ask here in case anyone has had experience but I will definitely call DCL. Not even 1000% sure I want to take it on board. I think I should be fine as it isn't a theme park but time will tell.
I didn't book a handicapped cabin at the time because I didn't feel comfortable taking a cabin someone may actually need use of more then me as I'm able to walk but the distance is where I have trouble.

It would be a really tight squeeze in a normal cabin, or potentially not fit at all. IMO having to go to a specific deck to store it each time you need to go somewhere likely will be a longer distance than walking to wear you're going. Especially if you're on one of the smaller ships.

Castaway Key may be a day it would be extremely beneficial. IMO the walk to the tram is pretty long. You may want to reach out to DCL to see if there are any options to get a golf cart ride if you opt not to bring it :)

Yes, my MIL gets a golf cart ride from Guest Services on the Island. She can walk around on the ship okay since there are usually lots of places for her to sit and rest but she can't walk long distances or stand for a long time. I think my FIL just requests it, but I'm not sure who he talks to. If you want, let me know, and I will ask him.

Thank you all! I decided to change my cabin to a handicapped one and will be bringing my scooter just in case :)
The handicap doors leave a lot of light underneath. You might want to consider putting a towel next to the door frame while you sleep. Maybe a strip of painters tape at the bottom? Happy you were able to get a room. So helpful.

On the dream we saw plenty of them parked in the stairwell though they're supposed to be on their designated level.

Which stairwell? If your talking about Deck 2 that is where they are supposed to be since that is the designated area for the Dream and Fantasy. On the the Wonder and Dream it is the elevator portico on deck 6. Not sure where the designated space is on the Wish.
