Taking a food item into a restaurant that was purchased at a cart?

Here's the scenario. We are having lunch at the Liberty Tree Tavern, but I just found out that the Liberty Square food cart might possibly have baked potatoes. My DD8 is wild about baked potatoes and there is nowhere in Disney to find them so this discovery was a "wow" moment. What do you think about me taking a prepurchased baked potato into our lunch at Liberty Tree? My DD would also order a lunch at LTT, not just the potato. I know it sounds a bit tacky but it's all about pleasing the kiddos while on vacation,in my opinion. When my DS was a toddler I did take dry cereal into CRT and asked for a bowl and glass of milk and they were very happy to ablige. I knew he wouldn't eat any of the food served there for breakfast.

I used to do that type of thing for my DD all the time. She was VERY picky and would only eat certain kinds of food. I tried to be as discreet as possible and always ordered her a drink and sometimes dessert, since you are also ordering your dd a lunch, I don't think anyone would mind. WDW especially is a place that will go out of their way to please! :sunny: :earsgirl:

Disney is making money from either purchase so I don't see why they would mind. It's not like buying food at Taco Bell and bringing it into an Olive Garden.

Of course, there are limits: you probably shouldn't buy a cinnamon roll in the MK and then try to join in the breakfast at Cindy's.

You might first ask at LTT. They might be able to get a baked potatoe for your son even if it's not on the menu otherwise go for it. I'd have a different answer if you were bringing food in as an alternative to ordering lunch at the restaurant.

:wizard: I have always assumed that it would be OK because it's all Disney anyway - and especially for a child!!!! I would always ask first though!

There are baked potatoes at the cart. They were selling them the first week of December. You can take anything you want into the LTT to eat that you purchased somewhere else. We do it all the time.

We asked at Boatwrights in POR if we could bring donuts from the gift shop in for my picky then 5 yr old DD and they were completely fine with that. All she ordered in the restaurant was chocolate milk but the rest of us paid for 3 adult meals and one more child's meal, so they didn't seem to mind. Had they said no, we probably would have just grabbed a bite from the food court. I think especially if it's for a kid, they are very accomodating.

At a normal restaurant outside of WDW, I might find this tacky, BUT, as everyone else said, all the money is going to Disney AND your Disney vacation is primarily about pleasing your child. I'm sure this happens ALL the time at restaurant all over Disney property. I wouldn't give it a second thought!

I have seen this done at WDW without any issues. We have only done this with yogurts and fruit cups to supplement kids meals. But once in San Antonio we brought a PB&J and chips with us to a mexican restaurant for our then 3 yr. old son, we ordered him a kids meal at the mexican place which he only picked at the cheese, the waiter was fine with our pb&j.
