Hi

Ok so baby isn't even born yet but we are planning our first trip :rotfl: Just can't stay away!

We are planning on going in September for 5 days driving over and staying at the Davy Crockett in total including Baby there will be 13 of us.

I just wondered if any one else had travelled with a baby? If you had any tips and what you could and couldn't do!

Thank in advance

Leanne and bump

We took ours when they were slightly older but I think 6 months would be a great age. Your baby will sleep a lot of the time at this age.:goodvibes You might want to consider the question of weaning. If you are breastfeeding, then you have food 'on tap' as it were but bottle feeding might require a lot more paraphernalia. Many mums start solids between 4-6 months, so that would need to be considered. Weaning is the only 'issue' as far as I can see.:thumbsup2

Hi we took our dd when she was 7 months old and we got a travel bottle steralizer from mothercare i think it was about £20 but that was about 4 years ago it steralized 2 bottles at a time so when we went back to our room we would get all the bottles steralized. We did take a tin of baby powder milk in our suitcase but for when we were travelling we got the pre made up milk in the cartons (so much easier then trying to mix the powder and water while your travelling) You can get jars of baby food there if you want. i'm sure we were given one when we went to the restaraunts they asked which flavour but i'm not sure if they still do this i'm sure somebody here will be able to tell you. there are lots of baby changing around the parks in the mens and lady's. We were lucky when we went when my dd was 7 months as we had my dad with us he does not do rides so he stayed with dd (my personal babysitter lol) but she did sleep alot too so it was not too bad. Hope you and your family have a magical time:wizard:

ooh i was wandering the same, we go in 2 wks :yay: and my little one is 9 months, she is pretty good for food, did the baby led weaning thing so she eats the same as us, only thing i was thinking about was heating bottles while we are in the park, its my first trip so am not sure what to expect, she doesnt like to sleep much either! also the small world ride is that suitable for her to go on?????

we took our 8 week old baby in nov, it was fine.

We drove and it took alot longer than usual as we had to stop to feed him more often than we usually stop on route.

Just allow plenty of time for breaks and prepare to be flexable to fit in with their needs. We split up with our older two children when we took a break with the baby so they could still ride. There are baby centers in both parks I think you can buy food/nappies there, but all the toilet blocks have changing facilities. I saw bottle warming & food warming facilities in the hotel resturants, not sure about the park ones as I bf and didnt need to use them.

If your eating there with a weaned older baby they can share your food, or have their own plate for free at buffets.

Thanks every one! Great advice from the DIS :worship:

Hi thought I would pass on what I had found out

That's also what I found on rides.

We don't plan to do many rides we want to do the meet the characters and shows parades and spending more time at Davey Crockett in the pool and just enjoying being together as a family.

Did any one take their little ones in the evenings we were thinking of having a lazy day and going later in the evening and having a lazy morning again.

Also what type of pushchair/stroller did you take or did you just rent?

congrats and good luck! we took isabelle to florida when she was 6 months and then to dlrp and the davy crocket when she was 12 months. i would say in terms of pushchair, take the most comfy one as lo will be in it alot. We took both our loola to wdw and mamas and papas sola to paris and both were fine (i prefer her parent facing than forward facing) she loved them both times and if anything it was easier taking her at 6 months so its a great age, she slept alot of the time and wasnt bothered about being in her pushchair etc. the baby care centre is handy for feeding time when in the parks or for chnages or to warm up if you are going when its colder. hope you have fun :thumbsup2 isabelle loved the characters when she was 6 months and they loved her (partially helped my my dressing her in disney outfits lol!) she got some really amazing character interaction.

The only thing I noticed on our most recent trip was the lack of changing facilities in male toilets - some had them but most of the time it seemed it was just the female toilets that had the changing area, which caused a bit of a problem for us, as I would take DD to change her and end up having to go all the way back to OH as there were no changing facilities in the gents!

Apart from that it was fine - ours is a little older now (18months) but we first took her when she was 12 months and she loved it - even the characters, although that's what me and her mum do for a living in UK theme parks so she's kind of grown up with it!

Hope that helps and have a wicked time!! :cool1:

The rented pushchairs are a bit like plastic seats with wheels - totally unsuitable for a baby. I would take a stroller that lies flat/has cosy-toes/rain cover and folds down quite small - as this will save space in your hotel room.

i dont think i have ever seen the rented strollers at DLRP not that I can remember what you are describing sounds like what they have in WDW now you cant miss them as there seems to be 100's of them lol!

I agree the rented ones are no good for babies as seats dont recline , look more like wheelchairs than prams

I took my youngest when he was 3 months old and it was brilliant. Travel cot was all set up in hotel when we got there. The baby centre was great. I was breast feeding so didnt have to worry about sterilising stuff. Definitely good idea to drive there because you can take as much stuff as you like.
Having said all this - my youngest is about to be 9 years old :rotfl:lol!

brilliant stuff thanks for that tinks! am sooooo excited right now its 2 weeks today until we go and i still haven't told my oldest 2 we are going! i feel i might just burst!!!!!:yay:
