Any special ideas for the parks for the best things to do with an almost 3 year old in Disney? I know she'll actually be able to do more rides this time, but I want to find some special things for her age while Daddy takes big sis on the things she can't do

They love like everything at that age. It's the best! Tom Sawyer island is great while the other members of the family are on splash and thunder mountain. So is wandering around by the tiki birds and Aladdin. While they ride space mountain it can be a little tricky.... we usually do an extra round of buzz and pay with the toys at the stands.

It's the simple stuff with little kids

There are definitely a few things at each park. AK has boneyard and dinoland. HS has HISTK playground and the Disney Jr Live show. At Epcot, you could take her on Figment, Mexico small world or Nemo if your older child isn't into that. At MK, there's a nice playground by Splash Mountain and the Casey Jr splash pad in Storybook Circus. You can also watch the clowns and performers there. DD2 and I spent lots of time there on our last trip when everyone else went on the big rides.

You could also hit up any rides that your older DD might not be interested in. And character meet and greets too.

I couldn't agree more. We are taking our DD in Sept. She will be 2 1/2!
Can't wait for her to see Mickey and his pals

We're going to be there in Sept with our then 2y9mo old. I've found some very helpful recommendations on www.wdwprepschool.com blog. She has specific touring plans for going with toddlers. I think it's meant more for young pre-schoolers like our kids. I am more excited about this vacation than any other I've ever been on. I can't wait to see his face light up the first time he sees Mickey.

We went with our then 2 1/2 son last year, I was not expecting it but he loved the dream along with Mickey show in cinderella's castle. We also did Dumbo multiple times, the play tent while waiting in line is great. And the characters, there's something priceless about the fact that at that age they really believe in the magic

We took our barely 3 year old daughter back in February. There was actually a lot of things to do that we didn't think about at first. Most rides at MK will do do-able for a 3 year old. There is a play area in Dumbo that our DD loved and play water area over there as well. If your DH and DD ride Space, you could do the people mover and there seems to be a dance party going on over in that area for a lot of the day. Tom Sawyer Island is a good place for little ones to run around and explore. As a pp said, there is a small play area under the train bridge towards the exit of Splash. Our DD also liked looking through the gift shops and looking for penny presses. Even taking her on one of her favorite rides while they do a ride will work. At EPCOT, she had a lot of fun in all the activity areas after the rides. The NEMO area has a lot of things to do. She enjoyed the Mexico and Norway ride. Each country has a Kid Spot where the kiddos can color and get a stamp of each country. At night around the back of Spaceship Earth and between the Innoventions buildings, there are tiles that light up like stars. I saw so many kids including DD that loved running around on them. There are jumping fountains around the Figment and Captain EO areas that are fun as well and they also have a small splash area on the walkway that leads towards the WS. AK has hands on kid stations for or not for Wilderness Explorers. All the kids seem to enjoy that. The gift shops in AK kept her entertained and they have neat drums and stuff around the park that are fun. She also loved the boneyard and the dinoland playground. HS, the animation building was fun for DD and they have Disney Jr show that's fun. They have the Honey I shrunk the kids playground that we couldn't get our daughter out of and we did Muppet 3D numerous times. It was a fun age to go with. She keeps asking to go back. So, we are going in September. Spoiled much.. :) y'all will have a blast!

My daughter was REALLY into the characters at that age. Some not so much. It may be one of those things that you cant really plan, and have to wait and see what grabs her interest.

They are fun at this age, I love going to WDW with kids, the magic in their eyes makes it even that much more special for me pixiedust:
