We need help! Just about to book vacation with me, DH, DD(9), 3DS(8,3,18mths). My DH hears from "people" don't take the little ones, because there isn't much for them to do! Now I know that it is not true but he seems to think what interests the big kids will not be for the little ones and vice versa. Any advice on how anyone with age differences does it!! What will the little ones do while the older ones are waiting in line? etc!!!!! :confused3

There are so many things that you can all do together. On the few times that you want to split up, there are things nearby the thrill rides the little ones can do. For example, while the older two ride space mountain with mom, dad can take the little ones on several rounds of buzz lighyear. My thoughts are always on this subject; If its a family vacation, the whole family goes! Just this idea teaches children you have to make adjustments for the people you love. A great value to learn. Beside, you would be so sad seeing all those little ones at WDW while yours were at home!!

My DH and I took our 15 mo old DD last August. I don't know how much she actually recognized, but we still had a great time just being there together. It did take a little extra planning because of her but it worked out fine. Just make sure to have enough snacks and drinks for your child and prepare to be flexible. Overall, relax and have fun. By the way, we are going again this August and can't wait. :flower:

Just back from 8 days / 7 nights at the World with two DD's - 4 years and 10 months. The 10 month old had a GREAT time and loved so much of the trip including Chef Mickey's, IASW, CoP (Momma's girl :)) and all of Fantasyland at MK. She even loved Voyage at MGM and Turtle Talk at Epcot. She was SUCH a good traveller.

While big sis went on rides like Splash or Soarin' with one parent, the other would hang with the 10 month old near the exit. She's in the "standing" stage where she's thrilled to just stand up holding on to something so she had a ball standing next to the stroller holding on or hanging in the stroller playing with her toys.

DD was 14.5 months on her first trip and had a BALL! I travelled alone with her and my 8yo DSis so we didn't even have the option of thrill rides. DSis just knew going in that we could only do things that all of us could ride. We all had fun and DSis had a blast "introducing" her neice to the characters. We easily filled out week with things to do and still missed several favorites. DSis just knew that there would be a next time when she could ride the other rides because either DD would be bigger or our Mom and Dad would be with us.

Definitely take him! Plus, the 3yo won't be able to do much more than the baby unless he is tall enough for all of the rides and a dare devil. Just plan to use baby swap and have a great time!

I think it all depends on the kid. We took my 16 month old and almost 4 year old in Jan. My 4 year old had a cold so was a bit cranky plus he is afraid of loud noises and dark rides. My 16 month old had more fun, I think. She did everything with my dh and we also took advantage of the baby swap, so dh and I could do the fun rides. You could do the baby swap and your older ones could go on the rides twice! I just tell people to keep their expectations low. You never know how your children will react until you're there, so you may have to change plans slightly if you have one afraid of the characters, one that is tired, etc. Go and enjoy the magic with your kids while their little!
