Just back this week. I just posted a long post in the meal voucher thread at the top of this board.

One early evening my mom, one daughter and I took the boat from the Contemporary to Ft Wilderness. Looked around a bit and decided to take dinner back to the room and the "napping" rest of the family.

Bought 2 adult take out buffets for $34.06 including tax.
Got about 8 pieces fried chicken, 3 pieces pizza, 4 ribs, 7 shrimp,
bowl of southwest chicken with rice, 1 salad, macaroni/cheese, corn, bowl of apple cobbler, 3 biscuits, other misc. and 2 drinks.
Too much food, but a great break from burgers and fries.
Fed 3 adults and 3 small children.

Short boat ride from Contemporary, every one on the bost wanted to have a party with our food.

By the way next time I do take out I would consider their chicken take out meal of 10 pieces of chicken, fries, coleslaw, biscuits for $19.99.

You should try the pizza!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:bounce: Yummm!!!!

You have convinced me...next trip I am going!!! Wish I could convince my DH to stay at FW sometime...I keep hearing such great things:D

Pam,

How does that work? Do they give you a fixed set of containers to fill up for a set fee or do you pay by the pound or something?

You made me hungry just hearing about it.

Sheila

We did the take out for breakfast on our last trip. I bought I adult meal and received a white (typical takeout size) container, a clear salad type container and a soup container. I was told that I could put anything in any of them. I have enough food to feed 2 adults and 3 kids. Donuts, eggs, breakfast pizza, sausage, bacon, bagel and I'm sure that there was more. I also got a coffee. We actually had leftovers. Great deal. I would highly recommend it.

Same takeout containers for the dinner buffet as listed above.

Each meal: one regular white styrofoam box, clear salad box about 5" x 5" size, and one soup cup with lid(probably 8 oz) and one drink.

I should have got 1 adult and 1 child instead. I think they said child gets soup container and a clear plastic box that looked to be about 6" x 8". I don't think they get salad box.

Hope this helps. You don't pay by the pound. Just fill the box, then I put pizza or biscuits on top of the chicken, etc. and the box still closed no problem. Apple cobbler in the soup container.

Enjoy!

Yes, we've done it for lunch. Great deal! We got mostly meats and fixed veggies in the rv. Fed 3 adults and a child for one take-out meal. And we didn't have to sit in the restaurant with a very cranky 2 year old!!

what a great idea we will be there next week and we will
definitly try this

thanks

I keep trying to get DH to go the campfire. We will have 2 DDs with us this time, so it is even more reason to go. If we wanted to pick up some take out and bring it into the campfire movie, would we be allowed? Does Trails end give you a bag to carry the food, and do you have to take a bus to the campfire from the Trails End?

Is there a place to eat somewhere in Fort Wilderness if you are not staying there?? For instance, is there a picnic area??

For 2 adults and 2 kids would you do one adult take out and one kid take out?? OR do you think one adult takeout is enough? My husband has a normal appetite but the girls and I do not eat a lot.

Maggie

maggiew,

I think one adult and one child would be plenty for the 4 of you.
Depends on how hungary you are, how old your kids are.
One adult probably would be enough.
All of us don't need soup or salad, so use those containers for anything else you want to put in them.
I really think you will all be full. Hope I am right.

We fed 3 adults and 3 young children for 2 adult takeouts and we threw away food. Next time when I don't have an extra adult to feed, I will get the one adult meal for my family of 5.

Look at the buffet and the containers before you order. That is what we did. You will know what to do.

We did the take out in September. There are picnic tables outside on the porch. We sat there and ate. It was very nice and we didn't have to walk anywhere or ride anywhere with our "overloaded" take out containers. Also, the wait staff and cashiers were very nice and helpful. We really enjoyed it.

Thanks DJT! That's just what I was looking for.
